Customs seized items australia, NEED ADVICE!

Hi there,

Some items from an ems parcel were removed and i found a little blue piece of paper... that basically states the following.

Customs border protection screen items... blah blah..... an item was removed as it was suspected to be prohibited blah blah.
A notification of seizure will be sent within 10 days...

Then there was a phone number to call if i didnt get a letter in the main within 10 days....

I was a little concerned. So i called them up and said what was going on they said that some items were deemed to be counterfeit and that they have been seized. I pleaded ignorance and what was gonna happen now. They said the they would send a letter to myself and also the rights owner about what they found and that they may take legal action if they wanted to it was up to them.

Has anyone else gone through this..

Im very concerned.
Should i be getting legal advice or just wait it out ?
:violin:

I have had 1 out of 4 opened and another is still in customs, been there about a week.

teedon 09-06-2010 08:55 AM

just ignore it and use another new address to receive the goods.

teedon 09-06-2010 08:58 AM

but i am very suprise for this,as i think au custom is not stickly,as last month i sent 40 packages of zumba to au without problem, and every day sent 2 packages each day, sent to NSW.All passed syndey custom very quickly after the goods arrive .

Funny enough they removed a batch of Disney DVD's from my package but left other dvd's and even sent the package to me. I called the border protection up and they said that they suspected counterfeit disney dvd's and they would be passing my details across to Disney for further action... im scared ****less....

Well they are not so different.
First thing you did incorrectly was attempt to import foo-foo items and expect to get away with it. By the sounds of it, you even had your home address on the parcel. Doh!

2ndly you get notcie from Customs about a seizure AND you contact them? DOH!

3rdly you com to the forum in panic wanting to be bailed out. Ideally you should have checked here about attempting to try to import items. Why?
You could have found out several things to do to stop this panic.

If you import, never use your home address ( c**p in your own nest etc)
If you import have a import agent. They can be a barrier between you & customs.
NEVER CONTACT CUSTOMS if you get parcels, letters that are not what you expected. GO back to the seller & see what alternatives might be available.
Here's another one. DONT IMPORT COUNTERFEIT ITEMS.

AND teedon dont be telling Australian users how good Australian Customs were one month ago just because your foo-foo items landed. I agree items get through but you know damn well that since mid June counterfeilt DVDs are being seized in most countries. And these items come from China. So stop trying to persuade users it is OK to import foo-foo items :peace:

Very good advise GreenBean. :thumb:

And that's me done! I just hope it's not too late.

I am curious about learning more about an import agent though. For future reference.

No blue letter, just opened and inspected.

I think I can kiss the other one goodbye, and I won't be doing it anymore, well not for a long time.
I didn't know about the crack down, and I'm rather miffed that my supplier didn't give me the heads up.

you have to use another new address ,your old address will be possible to get in their blacklist. You can use the old address after 6 months or even more longer time.

Hi,greenbeen,i am very confused for the thing that you talk to me,and i just telling the truth to the people what happend to me,of cource it is not stand for all people.I hope the people donot import the zumba products as this will give much more competitive for my current customers .I always tell the people to keep away the vero products, and go to do the legal business.

jbluntz 09-07-2010 06:03 AM

Hi Teedon, don't let Greenbean get you confused, she's a good female just like you, keep up the good work...

GreenBean 09-07-2010 06:17 AM

@buntz, go do some sprints quickly...... my delete finger is itchy :peace:xxx

rosieposie 09-07-2010 06:50 AM

i had this happen a few months ago, i basically had to sign a legal document - basically saying that i will never import any more items and if i had any in my possession to turn them over

i also did the same thing calling customs and asking about items, but i had a po box address not home address

i never did import anymore of those items from fear of getting caught after signing legal documents :(

Sure there isent a name problem as well with future packages being sent?

stillconfused 09-11-2010 08:38 AM

Depends on how common, or unique, your name is. If your last name is smith or similar, I would think a new address would be enough. Maybe change the initial or add one.
