Has our country forgotten how to write their own address?

It drives me up the wall when customers have blatantly obvious mistakes in their addresses.

I've bumped up the volume I've been selling this month, and I've noticed that around 1 in 10 people have the wrong address for shipping. It wastes my time figuring everything out, and risks you not getting your item!

/Rant.

I feel like doing them all favour and letting them know. But I always stop myself because i don't want to seem like a know-it-all and provoking a neg or neutral fb.

I'm still hand-writing most of my orders, but for the people print addresses with a label writer, do you just trust that the provided address is right?

I just have to trust that the address is right.

1 in 50 or so have a wrong address.

I have to bite my tounge when they are complaning that they have not gotten their item yet have input the incorrect address. Often I will send out a replacement as a 'gesture of goodwill' if its a fairly cheap item.

Yeah, you gotta love those who after the purchase is made and shipped then proceed to notify us that they moved or forgot to change the address.......Lovely.

I thought that'd be the case for the cheaper items without tracking.

Have you had any issues/open cases with more expensive items that had proof of being undeliverable?

I never ship anything without tracking.....but that's my policy.

Any item that's over $150 (again, my own policy) I personally have it shipped at the Post Office with Tracking, Signature proof. As of yet, I have not had a problem with expensive items (knock on wood).

I do make sure to contact the buyer if the item is expensive and I usually ask if the address on Paypal is their current address, once they respond Yes....that's good enough proof in case they decide to file a claim.

Perhaps they are asking you to dropship for them....?

Ha! Never!

Tracking and inusrance on my high cost items is essential.

Tracking for over $50 is the norm.

Business plan allows write offs for amounts up to $50.

Anything higher involves other action. (Think out side the box there :boink:)

I endeavour to contact buyers too.

Looks like I'll just add signature on delivery to my more expensive orders just as an extra bit of confirmation.

And for low-cost items without tracking I'll just bite the bullet and send out a replacement.

Sounds a plan.

I decided sale by sale.

If I feel there's a scam then look out .

Just google the address supplied first when labelling, that way any errors are usually picked up before shipping

When I'm processing a lot of orders, I simply do not have the time to google each address individually. And not to mention a not very efficient use of your time.

Thankfully AusPost postage on ebay automatically cross checks suburb name and postcodes which is what I've found most people have issues with. But this only works for packages.

When in doubt, confirm with buyer prior to shipping

What copy and paste is too time consuming for you:rolleyes: i'd rather do a quick check than have to resend

Best not to write addresses down as u could end up with a mistake yourself!!

So what's the alternative steve?

Steve could use carrier pigeons.

Or, be careful if you write labels.

Of course, we are moving into the world of rocket science.
