Using same bank account with different suffix?
 

My account at a local credit union is utilizing the suffix method on the same account number.
Example:
Let's say checking account is 33335555 with a suffix at the end of 01
If I wanted to open a savings, it would be 33335555 with a trailing suffix of 02

Is anyone using similar accounts? Any issues?

I searched and found one thread on it a while back but didn't have much on it.
I don't want to burn an account if this method no longer works. Thanks!

Yes. I have a couple. They work fine. There are some posts from a couple years ago on the topic. Some one said you can enter in the account number without the suffix and one with the suffix and it'll work with 2 PP accounts. I tried it and it didn't work for me. Just came back as an invalid account number. I did get lucky though, my credit union changed the way they do account numbers for ACH transfers so it gave me two account numbers for the same BA.

Only thing I worry about is withdrawing from multiple PP's the same day. I wait until the ACH clears before I withdraw from another PP. But that's a good strategy to use with any accounts at the same bank. Not just credit unions with suffix numbers.
