Using the Same Bank Account, Open a New Savings Account?
 

Hello,

Pretty much what the title says. I am a US citizen but I live abroad. Opening up new accounts with a new bank poses the issue that I am across an ocean from the US.

If I open a new savings account on a bank that was linked to my flagged paypal, will they be able to link that? I would only link that savings account so the routing number would be the same I belive, but the account number should be different. Is that enough or will I need to find some way to open an entirely new bank account.

If I do need to open an entirely new bank account with a new bank, any ideas on how I could do this in the US without actually physically being in the US?

I have open bank account and money market accounts online without going to physical branch(I am in USA and I use my SSN and US address and phone number)/
AMEX MONEY MARKET fund,CIT,SYNCHRONY BANK,VIRTUAL BANK,Marcus bank checking and savings accounts.
You can take a look and see if you can do the same,not sure how you are going to deposit the fund,wil you be transferring $ from your existing bank account in US?

Yes I have a US mailing address. I thought I would be able to deposit funds direct from the new paypal to a new banking account. From there I would have to pay to wire the funds to my actual bank? That was the plan.

Paypal never remove any member account whether it is restricted or you choose to close it and with that,it will remeber all your cc ,debit card,bank accounts.
so dont ever go back and refer to your suspended paypal account and the bank linked to that account

I agree with the OP, as I also am a US citizen and stay overseas for long periods of time.

It's much more difficult to open new accounts remotely with a bank even if you already have accounts with them than it used to be.

For example, Wells Fargo, BofA, and Citibank DO NOT allow you to open accounts online or by phone anymore. They require your physical presence in one of their branches to sign the paperwork. I know this because I have accounts with these 3 banks and all of them told me so. They mentioned this is due to new Federal requirements.

The problem with these other so-called "banks" that have an online-only presence is they don't often work well when it comes to withdrawing from stealth PayPal's.

where is your 'actual bank'?
not all banks offer do it yourself online intl wiretransfer ,BAC does,if they do not,then you have to go to a physical branch to do so.
Or you can write yourself a physical check and take it to your 'actual bank' and ask them if they can clear for you,they may be able to do so for a fee.
