UK Bank accounts owned by each other

I understand some banks are owned by each other, e.g. Halifax is owned by Lloyds.

I owe money to some banks (unpaid credit card debts/loans); so I want to know if I open an account in a bank from the same group, would my funds be at risk of possession?

If you owe money you may well struggle to open a new account within the same group. I do not think that they take funds in that manner though but I am no expert on that.
