Wise refuse refunding my monies after 60 days past

please HELP!
I have 20,000$ in my wise account, and they refuse refund me

Hello KAMAL,

We’re going to keep your account closed. We make decisions about account closures carefully. So we’d like to take a moment to explain our position.

Do you have the right to close my account?

In our Terms of Use Agreement, we’re allowed to close accounts. This is mentioned under Account suspensions.

The Terms of Use Agreement can be found here, by clicking on Customer Agreement for your respective location.

Can you say why my account was closed?

Unfortunately, we can’t — it’s because of how we’re regulated. We list possible reasons in our Terms of Use.

What can I do next?

Sorry, but we won’t be able to look into this further. This is our final response in regards to this matter.

If you are not satisfied with this response, you do have the right to forward it for independent adjudication with the dispute resolution body applicable for your location.
In order to do so, please follow the procedure which can be found here. For instance, in the United Kingdom you can initiate a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) within 6 months of the date of this email - latest by 08/05/2022.

Please, note that we will not be able to provide you with a refund of the money left on the account. If you wish to contest this decision, please, refer to the procedure above.

Thanks,
Axel.

Thats new crap from them - they now just steal funds in case of a fraud and invite people to send them formal complaints.

I'd never keep such crazy money in any EMI.

transferwise usually refund payments to the source if they can not be paid out

in this case it is either a stealth account or the source is suspicious

I am sure however that this money did not come from any of the known marketplaces or payment providers

Re: Wise refuse refunding my monies after 60 days past

I`m not sure I understand. You transferred $20,000 from your local bank account to your Wise account and they closed your account and kept the funds? A platform/marketplace/client transferred $20,000 to your account and they flagged the transfer and closed the account without returning the transfer to the originator?

For this to happen something was way off. Certain countries have soft anual receiving limits after which point the receiver will have to provide additional documentation (Brazil for example has an annual limit of $10,000 USD) but even in a situation where the receiver could not supply docs the money would have been returned to the senders account...

Something about those funds or the source smelled as fishy as Marché Central de Poisson and their processing bank has filed a suspicious activity report at the time you received the first notice (this was not the first notice. this was the final response/summary resolution communication notice) After their due diligence report process was complete they confirmed or determined that suspicious activity had been taking place on the account. If that`s not the case and everything was legit then its time to lawyer up and take them to court.

Lastly, IF everything was legit why wait 9 months to react? Usually money services and financial organizations handle these things with great caution meaning they cut ties at any hint of risk even if no terms or laws were broken. In the event that everything was clean and legit the Financial Ombudsmen would have cleared this up within 4 weeks. So at this point you need to be seeking advice from a lawyer not the board.

20k isn't peanuts, that's a years salary for the average person.

Follow their procedure and get filing with a formal complaint.

Was the account stealth with made up details ? if it was then they possibly have you by the bollox.

if the account holder is located far away in a third world country wise will be more inclined to keep the funds. the situation would certainly look different with a uk customer
