Wamu

So this works like a credit card and they give you the account number on line so you don't have to wait to get it in the mail?

aspkin 07-15-2008 02:55 PM

It's an online bank account yes, they give you an account number online you can use with Paypal.

Angel1 07-15-2008 03:01 PM

Great! Thank you!

anthonychan 07-16-2008 10:57 AM

Just to calrify, do they give the account number immediately upon sign up or or is it sent via post?

ebayhateluv 07-16-2008 11:30 AM

HI:
When I signed up last year-they girl gave me the number over the phone, I funded with a cc..

Angel1 07-16-2008 01:23 PM

I did it on line and got the number instantly and it was only $1 to fund! So great! I signed up for checking too.

Angel1 07-16-2008 01:24 PM

PS --checking requires you do the deposit confirmaitons, savings doesn't but I figured I'd do both. I can use them both at some point!

philly387 07-16-2008 01:28 PM

Hopefully you get to use the savings more than the checking :) Saving money is always good!

anthonychan 07-17-2008 11:23 AM

Is the account ready to use immediately after sign-up, i.e. can you start to receive funds on the account after sign-up - if they provide the account number then shouldn't it be possible?

philly387 07-17-2008 11:52 AM

You can start immediately. It took about 2 days to see the small deposits from PayPal in my WaMu account.

anthonychan 07-17-2008 02:04 PM

Thats great, however do you need to provide bank details of your other bank for deposit? Or can you just use credit card to fund initial deposit?

philly387 07-17-2008 02:34 PM

You can use a credit card for the inition minimum deposit of $1. Worked fine for me.

Hey all,

Just to know my girlfriend got a wa-mu <;) checking about a year ago when they started the free checking thing. I have several local bank accounts. Well we both applied for wa-mu <;) checking this weekend and we're both denied. She who has an account with them in good standing and me with multiple local bank accounts all in good standing.

So I'm thinking they may have made it harder to obtain them for some reason.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

johnQ 07-21-2008 07:57 PM

Thanks, I meant to call them today but got a bit busy out of the house. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes...

ebayhateluv 07-21-2008 11:46 PM

HI:
Maybe you are in Chex Systems?
You can get your own free Chex file.. (They even notate the checks youve ordered in the past in some cases--i.e. 7/20/2007-cks 1500-5400, a/c# 789789789...

WAMU saving $4 monthly?

I signed up today at WAMU. I was going to do the savings account but the info included a $4 monthly charge. I haven't heard this mentioned before. Is it new? Dosen't it make the checking account more desirable?

philly387 08-03-2008 06:34 PM

savings accounts earn interest. There are ways to get the savings account fees waived though. Just look through it some more.

628 08-04-2008 02:57 PM

Just want to make sure before I give it a go:
So I have another bank account, which of course is under my real information, and this is still safe to use to verify on PayPal, correct?

Thanks!

philly387 08-04-2008 09:12 PM

You are correct

screwedagain 08-25-2008 01:24 AM

What do you guys do when Wamu account is no longer needed. Do you keep all the linked accounts open and don't care about closing them? Having too many accounts is creating a clutter on my online banking screen.
