Unable to pay with paypal balance - debit, credit card required
 

Hi,

I like to make purchase online and pay though paypal a lot. Sometimes, when I pay, paypal allows me to use paypal balance (I have a bank account attached, but not credit / debit card) which I have more than enough to cover the payment.

However, after making a few purchase in a day, paypal then requires me to add a credit / debit card enough though my balance still have more than enough to cover the purchase.

Anyone knows how to get over this issue? I don't want to link my credit,debit since linking them, paypal would use my balance to purchase anyways instead of the cards.

In my experience, it asks you to add a card. Then near the bottom (if it forces you to use the card) it says it will use the balance first and card second. I've actually never seen it charge my card in this scenario.

you have to tell PAYPAL which is your primary payment method?
I always use a credit card.

Paypal likes us to link a credit card,as a seller,we get immediate use of buyer payment BUT Paypal would not collect the money immediately,unless he is using Paypal fund,else it would take a day or more to collect the money.
so to be on the safe side,if something went wrong,Paypal will charge our credit card .

i think some merchants only accept verified pp accounts, a cheap vcc should solve the problem

There can be different reasons why you can pay with your debit card. Some of the reasons can be that your account has insufficient funds, you are exceeding your daily spending limit, you haven't activated the card yet, you're entering the wrong personal identification (PIN) number, you've entered the wrong PIN number too many times and other personal information you've entered doesn't match bank records. Also, the problem can be in the Verifone. My Verifone in my shop was broken, and none could pay with the card, so I bought a new one from a CVV shop.
