Easiest Bank account to register via online in Canada if possible
 

I want to create a new PayPal account using my dad's ID, however he doesn’t have a bank account yet as he is here on visit though so I was wondering which is the easiest Bank to register an account, preferably the cheapest and that PayPal should accept it.

Please advise.

cibc rbc TD - these are among the banks that are easiest to work with and register

Do these banks or at least one of them allows online registration without visiting the Bank physically?

A lot of them will allow online registration as long as you can be ID verified - maybe even with mailing in of some documents/copies

I did one, but it can be done online, relatively straight forward. I think the challenge for me, is to find a source of unlimited bank account numbers. I know if we make a savings account, that acts as another bank account to use on ebay, if we enter details manually, I just never tried to make multiple checking accounts on the same bank.

Anyone have any input?

He could have a bank account in his own country,if it is HSBC,may be something can be worked out

SammySquare have you tried mismatching the name of the bank with eBay?

So koho bank in your name and eBay with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name?

Yeah I believe you, that seems to be the ultimate solution, can it be done online? I use my banks already for business and having them ask me questions bothers me, so getting some research done.

Yes I have, the main thing that they are checking for is the postal code. So the postal code of the bank should be the same as the one put on ebay, and click "My bank is not on the list"

If his father is just visiting,he is a foreigner,can he provide his home country ID and open a bank account online or offline?in Canada?

He can as long as he has some permanent residence for mail/living purposes

Whats the process for opening multiple checking accounts? And any idea for the cheapest carrier in canada for phone verificaiton?

Multiple checking accounts can be opened online once you have at least one bank account at a bank like CIBC and online access is granted.

Cheapest carrier hmm might be freedom or koodo

I remember using Freedom mobile data to create ebay accounts back in the day, and that would flag me, and give me low limits. And also the carrier was important when making ebay accounts in canada, for the phone. Freedom would flag me.

Maybe things have changed now. Do you have good experience with freedom and kodo?

Also regarding checking accounts, do they go thru a credit check, or its just really simple to open it without any scrutiny. HSBC is racist, they didnt open an account for me because I wasnt chinese. I am not kidding, I went in branch with the same story i did for CIBC, RBC, BMO, etc and they refused me.

I don't either, they just didnt trust me... It maybe just that one banker, not the entire chain.

I just use Fido and Bell, the latter through a work perk.

About checking accounts, they do a soft credit check.

For your issues with HSBC, do you have a problematic credit score or issues?

which country is your Dad from?
He can open a Paypal account in his own country ,link a local bank.

Here in Canada, opening a bank account will not affect your credit score but they do a soft credit check (if someone checks their score the day after opening a bank account, it will show up) - I have done this numerous times and it shows up.

Now, most of the time there is no issues and, in fact, if your score is good, the bank will offer overdraft protection. However if your score is bad or you have issues/bankruptcy etc, the bank can refuse to do business

This was years ago, I have pretty much exhausted all big banks, and moved onto creating accounts with credit unions. They are a huge pain in the ass.
