The big 4 require a visit to the branch. I’ve tried a few digital banks but it seems they usually want a kyc liveliness check via app, rather than just a pic of ID

Hmm that might have changed recently for the big 4 then because they were ok with mailing and signing docs for a while - perhaps change due to increase fraud assessment...

Hmm maybe I’m just wrong then. In 2023 I applied for TD, CIBC, RBC online and to complete the application I had to visit the branch to show ID. Maybe there was an option to mail in the documents which I was unaware of

I think it's likely linked to how much info you give to them as well - do you have a SIN card? Passport? If you aren't a citizen or permanent resident, then I could see them pushing for in-branch visit

Hey,

I just opened a ebay account about a month ago and register for selling two weeks ago and sold and ship the item and it got delivered and my account is still on hold pending id verification how long does it take? also would i be able to get in touch with the department that accepts the documents to approve it if i call.
