Default Using interac.ca

More and more buyers in canada are becoming more comfortable with paying with email money transfers, its probably THE best way to accept funds in Canada because sellers dont have to pay any fees (the buyer pays $1.50 per transaction) and the money is instantly available in your bank account. (Its also approved by ebay.)

Now i was wondering is there anyway to link interac with a checkout to make it more user friendly for buyers? Does anyone know about this or tried it before?

Ok at least i know now its possible

Here is a list of a few companies that use it.

An example of a company.

Ill contact the bank tomorrow to see if they can give more information on how to set this up. Because TD Canada even advertises the list of all the companies that accept email money transfers and all of them arent big name companies.

(Even Aldo shoes accept interac online...this i wish i didnt know)

I read through their website and I can't figure out how they work. What payment methods do they take? CC? Bank account?

They take email money transfers direct from your bank account. I have used this before to send money and receive money from family and friends. Its pretty simple. You add the persons email address to your 'payee' list indicate the amount you want to send and add a security question. They receiver has to answer the security question and log onto to their bank account and deposit it.

I imagine it must be a bit more simple when its connected too a website.

hmm that is for wire transfers. With email money transfers you just need the recipients email address (it doesnt have to be the one registered with the bank account) and it sends you to a url and you pick which bank you use. Then log on, answer the secu question and its deposited. Email transfers are better because its faster and its cheaper. Wire transfers are better if you want to send more than $1000 at once.

Hi Lukeyangcn,
Approved by ebay means that you can safely offer it as a payment option without annoying them. If you search "approved payment policy" in ebay help, you will find a list called "examples" that lists several companies. Certapay is one of them and is available to Canadians and it is basically interac money transfer. If you are looking for a service available to Canadians where you can accept credit cards, try Moneybookers. They are also on this list.

I noticed that Canada was not on the list as well but I contacted them and Canada is fine. It works similarly to paypal. Just be aware that they will verify address by sending you a piece of mail so make sure that you can receive mail. Better yet, you probably should sign up with your real info. That is what I did as I was not sure whether they did a credit check of any kind. If you decide to sign up with made up info, perhaps you could let us know how it went.

How do you offer moneybooker or email money transfer?
can you link it to your checkout or you send separate invoice?
Please elaborate

I am super keen to find out the answers to these questions too! especially the moneybookers thing for Canada. VERY frustrated by the lack of paypal alternatives up north here. Though I have gotten VERY good as dealing with the standard paypal limitation which happen to me about every 3 weeks these past 6 months now.

Usually takes just a few days, just a bitch when I have to send out tracking numbers as as I drop ship and have to waste money sending out filler xpresspost or if I need the limitation off asap even priority and waste a few hundred bucks to get it back on.

Anything without such crazy paypal fees would be nice too!!!

alot of my customers (60+%) are from Canada, so if there were a nice checkout for interac email payment, which I use loads for my own personal use, that would be amazing

ok, maybe there is a way to streamline this after all.... check out:

Interac

I am going to thoroughly investigate this and see if there is a way to offer my customers a streamlined checkout progress through interac payments.
