Washington State IP Address for Canadian Account
 

I can get an IP address (VPS) that is on the Oregon/Washington state line for dirt cheap.

I was wondering if this would suffice for registering a Canadian eBay account?

Otherwise I would have to go a more expensive route, which I would like to avoid.

What do you all think? I know when I have searched my real IP address in databases it has sometimes shown up 100 miles from where i actually am, so I don't know how big a deal it would be to have an ip in that location. Would this be close enough to stop the canaidan ebay support from questioning me?

The fact that it is a dirt cheap VPS makes me question its popularity. The more popular it is, the more likely it is you will have issues. A good VPS tends to be expensive.

USA IP and Canadian ebay address are a dangerous marriage.

Add to the mix of a VPS and account could be flagged.

Consider dial-up if needed.

Canadian eB account NEEDS Canadian IP to start with - Oregon/Washington IP is still US IP...

As Greenie stated - VPS or dial-up

I did not recommend VPS and said 'consider' dial-up.

100 miles within the same appropriate country IP is not such a big deal IP - have done this all the time

IF you re-read the OP, there is a small matter of an international boundary.

He has made no mention at all of even using an ISP within Canada.

How will that work?

Or is this just off the cuff not quite useful advice?

Didn't I write "within the same appropriate country"? So if OP's account is in US, he could use IP within 100 miles...if within Canada, he could use IP within 100 miles - I made THAT clear.

I was addressing his second statement - we already clarified about the Canadian IP access part.

Do not like to bump a post up, but.

The VPS were horrid. Every account (about 5) got MC999 --- The locations turned out to be in Seattle

I ran 3 dedicated VPN's that cost me $12 each (too much, need to find an alternative) and all are going fine so far while handling them the exact same as the MC999 ones.

If you have ran US accounts with a Canadian IP close to the border and are having success, it must have been the VPS that was the problem, not the Seattle location... Hmm
