DISASTER: Paypal Limited Account 180 days hold (No Appeal)
 

Hello,

PayPal decided to limit my account and I have around 400$ in it, I cannot appeal the decision it seems, PayPal gets away with abusing power so they can earn interest from people's money,

I did a research online and read that some people were successful in getting their money back, they filed a lawsuit and they were able to get their money back in 30 days,

Mainly this was in the US, I don't know if it's possible in Canada, I think I have a slim chance since it's not a US account,

Anyone being through this before, what are your thoughts?

A big factoring question is to why it was limited.

Some people have had success but the amounts are usually larger to get an attorney involved.

Never hurts to try.

It was linked to a suspended eBay account, I should have withdrawn the money and not keep it in my account, I guess at this point I will have to wait 180 days to get the money back.

Yes of fortunately at this point you will without a doubt have to wait 180 days, which is probably something that you do not want to hear but it's going to happen!

Because there is no calling PayPal to talk your way out of it and obviously you cannot get a lawyer involved so you have no choice right now!

You're stuck. In the future, never leave more money in PayPal than is necessary to cover a couple of refunds plus your eBay fees. All other monies should be immediately withdrawn.

I agree it seems like there is no solution at this point, calling PayPal will not solve the issue, they barely even fix any issue,

I read online that some people had to file a claim in the us and they were able to get the money in 30 days, when they filed the claim they got a call from a lady from PayPal asking them how can we settle this without going to court and they asked for their money back so PayPal accepted.

I don't think this is possible in Canada, sucks I have to wait 180 days, PayPal is earning interest doing this, so unfair.

I agree, I made a mistake by leaving the money, luckily about a week earlier I took out 600$, I kept 400$ just in case someone wanted a refund but still I should have max 150-180$

Oh well lesson learned, I will never keep money in my PayPal account,

I will be making a stealth account now, live to fight another day I guess..

By the way, I did send an email to PayPal, explained my point of view and asked nicely to review my account again, I added around 30 emails in CC to all the departments, and I basically said if I don't get my money back I will file a court claim,

I don't think this is going to work but either way I have nothing to lose

I will keep you posted if anything new comes up..

Unfortunately, that will not do anything. PayPal is such a huge company they will not be scared by your threat at all.

Just let it sit, create more accounts.

You'll get it back after x amount of days. Consider it a savings account with no interest that you'll be able to withdraw in the near future. Not the worst thing ever.

Well said! so true, good thing I had taken out 600$ a few days earlier and left 400$ only.

I will make a new stealth account, I just have a questions, I cannot use any info used in my suspended account anymore, bank credit address even name ?

Downer that this happened.

I just replied to your other thread about the 7 day suspension.

Is this paypal related to that or to another ebay?

When you start over again, you must make sure that all info is new. Clean up your computer too.

Make sure your items are *cough* better to sell.... avoid software ;)

Hello,

They are both related, PayPal suspended my account a few days after getting suspended on eBay,

I will make sure everything is different, while using new IP and account

In my head I feel like it's hard but hopefully as soon as I start it will be easy.

It all seems hard in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it will be like second nature! :thumb:

@ram, sadly you will have to wait 180 days - very few cases of money released in 45 days but if you're having problems with both pp and eb accounts...your chances are slim. Wait it out and make new stealth accounts

Keep in mind, you have the resources of the forum.

Make sure you put NO new account to ebay/paypal without doing a check list of your actions.

That way we can help to tweak anything rather than have a poorly made account.

You KNOW you can do this.

I agree, at this point there is zero hope of getting the money back before 180 days, especially with a Canadian account, perhaps a US account has a better chance.

I am excited that there is a good option so I am going stealth, at least I don't have to be emotionally attached to an account if I get suspended, I had a hart time when they suspended my accounts, now I can make a couple and I wouldn't even care about it

UPDATE: I got a call from a PayPal executive, I was told that they will no longer hold my money so I can withdraw it to my bank account! but I cannot use my account for other purposes.

That went better than expected, I wasn't expecting a call from PayPal with any kind of solution, now I got my money back, at least I don't have to wait 6 months for it.

Hopefully this helps other members
