Ebay Reports to Revenue Canada

I currently have an Ebay account that is approaching $20,000 in 2016 sales. I would like to start selling now using a second Ebay account.

I am trying to avoid any Ebay account exceeding $20,000 in sales so that no report goes to Revenue Canada from Ebay at year end.

The second Ebay account uses a different Paypal account however both Paypal accounts are linked to the same bank account.

So my question is - will Ebay combine the total sales from both Ebay accounts (which will likely exceed $20,000) and report to Revenue Canada?

What is the criterion that Ebay uses to combine sales on multiple accounts for tax reporting purposes.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you should make sure you are not confusing countries.

US has 200/$20,000 tax reporting .

Why do you think Canada is the same.

You are required to file your own tax earnings.

Canada Revenue took court action against Ebay a few years ago to force Ebay to submit selling records for Canadian Ebay sellers. Right now as far as I know the requirements are:

Reporting to CRA ... Canada Revenue Agency ......$20,000 in eBay sales... reported by eBay

This is similar to the requirement by the IRS but in this case Ebay reports to Revenue Canada (not Paypal)

I would like to sell on Ebay using 2 accounts (same IP address, different Paypal accounts) with each account having sales under $20,000. How can I make this work so that Ebay does not link the accounts and issue tax information to Revenue Canada

Welcome to the forums.

1. How are different PP's linked to the same bank account? You can't reuse a bank account across 2 PPs...

2. Canada does not have the same US criteria but there are similar criteria for Revenue Canada GB.

3. I would not operate on linked accounts to try and circumvent the eb policy OP.

4. Financial consultant is in order for taxes.

Re: Ebay Reports to Revenue Canada

I am not really trying to avoid paying taxes as much as I am trying to avoid an audit by Canada Revenue.

Both my spouse and I sell on Ebay - mostly items that qualify as personal use - for which Canadian tax laws say are not taxable.

However a report from Ebay to Revenue Canada for sales exceeding $20,000 can lead to a tax audit being called which results in nothing but work and frustration.

Therefore I am trying to keep both Ebay accounts under the $20,000 threshold limit.
