Paypal may no longer accept giftcards.com cards ?

PayPal strangely stopped letting cards from giftcards.com work

anotherebayhater 09-09-2007 10:29 AM

r u sure that is why they wont accept payment? do you have an address attached to the card? I know i tried to make an Amex gift card payment and wasent able to thru PP because no addy was attached. could this be why? we just dont want to go off half cocked making statements without evidence. :)

anotherebayhater 09-09-2007 01:37 PM

jonas can you try another form of payment and let us know the results?

Jonas 09-09-2007 05:21 PM

I did test the AVS, obviously. Matches exactly.

anotherebayhater 09-09-2007 06:15 PM

ok so they didnt work because they were associaited with bad accts not that the brand of cards dont work. so PP DOES ACCEPT giftcards.com this is why we dont post info unless we are clear and sure on the info. thanks for the update. :)

Okay and you brought that up because...???????

aspkin 09-11-2007 12:09 AM

Sometimes a card works and sometimes it doesn't. I've had problems with giftcards in the past.. and then I would try another same brand and it worked.

Jonas 09-13-2007 12:24 PM

Why don't you actually try it yourself instead of going off what you imagine happens when I actually tested it?

cards associated with suspended accts wont work its not that the giftcards dont work. making ageneral statement like that and not confirming your outcome has been experianced by more people than yourself is going off without knowing the whole story.

aspkin 09-13-2007 11:15 PM

Giftcards for the most part still work. Sometimes you'll find one that ebay just won't accept.. and you'll have to try another. It's just how it it.

I'm afraid that I will be trying that tomorrow :( because my first PP acct got limited and since PP is asking for DC on every (4) item I have sold and I can't provide I'm f'ed.
Could I send empty envelopes to the other three with DC and then provide the numbers? Would only cost $3-6 to try.

I think that's a great idea, don't see much to lose and my guess is it should work! I will be looking forward to hear the outcome of this one.

Creative problem solving fascinates and cracks me up too, and that is why Aspkin's site is such an outstanding resource....very akin to benevolently (word?) opening a soup kitchen just cuz you make good soup and see a need in your community.

Thanks Aspkin, BTW! And may your cup runneth over and karma be instant.

MMmmmm, yummy!

I actually mailed out items to everyone involved, cost about $8 and the items themselves were a a collectible that I got for free and had plenty extras of. What torques me is I emailed everyone to let them know what was going on so they wouldn't be wondering when they got their second item...all but one emailed me back saying that they had received their item already and would happily inform PP that it had arrived...but no, that wasn't good enough for PP.

I could see this requirement if my account was locked due to a claim that I had failed to deliver goods that someone had paid for, but there were no such claims in this case:mad:

I used one yesterday, no problem, but then I was required to add a bank account, HUH? Of course I didn't, so I couldn't sell my item (a car)

I might have been trying to create a seller account through EB motors though...are those requirements stricter than regular ebay.

The account I did end up listing on I set up a month ago and it seems to me that the same thing happened to that one, went back the next day and just added a PP account, set up with the same GC of course.

Anybody else run into this? I'm thinking that it was either because I was trying to list a higher price item and it was EB motors where the fees are a little higher than I ever paid for any of my other stuff or maybe it is a random thing on X of every so many new seller aco****s.

I'll go back in a few days or weeks and try again with a cheaper item and see what happens
