Other than not needing to go to the store and pick up, what is the difference between vanilla visa and vcc?

With me being in US, is one of the other a better choice?

Vanilla visa prepaid gift cards work fine for US sellers. PayPal in the US dosen't verify your card, meaning they don't test it with a small monetary purchase or require a code for verification. This is common in most countries, but not in the US anymore.
The reason is simple, your attached bank account is your verification. Since early last year, US PayPal requires a bank account in order to withdraw your funds. No more spending your PayPal balance.
