SGC Still work to get the expuse #

hey guys do the SGC still work for getting paypal expuse number...? was reading some members had trouble...... has anybody recently used one??

I use vanilla visa, but you shouldn't have a problem with simon. I used one last week. You only need the expanded use number if they detect it as a debit card. If they pick it up as credit, it just temp authorizes it for a dollar.

Okay, I've been away for awhile with no need to register new accounts in that I have 3 up and running right now.
At the risk of sounding really stupid...what is an "expanded use number"?

expanded use number is also known as the expuse number. When you register a card with paypal, often times it will detect it as a debit card, instead of a credit card. It will temp authorize 1.00 and charge 1.95 to the debit card. In the statement of your prepaid card, or debit card, you will see the charge for paypal, and a 4 digit code that you have to give paypal to confirm you are the account owner. The idea is, you have access to the bank statement, so you must be the account owner.

If you use a card that paypal picks up as a credit card, this is not needed.

I'm not sure what use is expanded........

Okay yesterday I used A SGC to set up a PP account, verified by phone (# never used before) and went to verify the SGC.

This is all that appears in the Transaction Description column
no 4-digit reference number
PAYPAL INC MARK
Purchase with AVS - Membership Organizations
not elsewhere classified
In the reference column there is a 12 digit number

There is nothing on the SGC Account Information page that is similar to what Paypal has on their page explaining where the 4 digit verification code is.
I've tried it three times and it has been the same story each time and all is has gotten me is being charged $1.95 each time

Everything else seems set to go except for this...want to lift the sending limit...hoping to list 5 or 6 small items this weekend

This alone will not lift the limit. You will need to add a bank account also.


If you click on the confirm card link, and hit resend code, this should show up the second time.

I just purchased a Simon Giftaccount and attempted to register with Ebay: however an error message states that Ebay does not allow a "prepaid" card....

Any suggestions on how I can get a prepaid card that doesn't register as prepaid?

That's not the issue. Prepaid cards do not work for ebay. They work for paypal. Best step is to make & verify a paypal account & attach that to your ebay.

For some reason sometimes even though the charge shows up right away, the EXPUSE number sometimes takes an extra hour or two.

You can always set up the PP account with the GC, verify with a bank account and then register a new ebay account with that verified PP account. That worked for me the last time I set up a while back.

You can close the bank account without PP or ebay ever knowing as long as you always have enough in your PP account to pay your user fees
