does the simon gift account work with paypal? If not, what is the best method as far as registering a cc or debit card because I would like to take out more than just 500usd per month. I got the bank thing figured out, cant do the social security thing, so the only thing else is a CC or debit. What is the best thing to do? Thanks again in advance.

i dont mind using my NEW CC WITH NEW info, but if i can get away with just using simon, that is fine too

Simon works..You have to do the Expanded Use with your Simon card...they charge you like $3 and you have to check the transaction in Simons website and input the numbers...do this and add your bank and the $500 limit will be lifted

my 500 limit got lifted. my question is how much can i draw out without paypal limiting me again? i withdrew 495 my first month and left everything else there, i can invoice my old paypal (no limit, only registered with ebay), but i would like to invoice my old paypal as a last resort, any suggestions, i am thinking about withdrawing 1000-1500 and moving my way up

I have a 6 yr old acct that i am eligible for the PP debit card, i need to add a CC to file in order to get the card, the acct is in my real name, but at an old addy, can i get a simon.com giftcard or gift acct to purchase CC in that addy to confirm with paypal ??? also when applying for the PP DC do i need to give my social or am i good to go...please help....thanks !!!!!

make sure u use a gift card that u can register ur address online with it like walgreens sales visa gift 2 go cards u can register your address on it then verfiy paypal with it

Yeah you can use simon, but for some reason they denied my last attempt to get a card, I changed and confirmed my address w/ a simon card right before making the request, so I think its cause I changed my address they said I can try again in 30 days which is coming up so i'll try again...as far as social they don't ask for that

One of the most popular gift card questions online is whether one can link prepaid gift cards like the Visa gift card to a PayPal account. The short answer is Yes and No.

Now, the long answer: Yes, it is possible to link a prepaid gift card like the Visa or American Express gift card to a PayPal account but for this to happen, you need to pray and hope that PayPal does not require you to go through their Expanded Use verification process. To better understand why, you first need to be familiar with the process for linking a credit card to a PayPal account. When you link your credit card to a PayPal account, PayPal will attempt to confirm your address with your credit card company. If the credit card company is not able to confirm your address, then you may be asked by PayPal to complete their Expanded Use enrollment process in order to activate your credit card.

Expanded Use verification means PayPal will charge your credit card a small about. Next to the charge will be a unique, randomly generated 4-digit Expanded Use code. If you have online access to your credit card activity, the charge and code will appear on your card activity in approximately 2-4 business days. If you do not have online access, you must wait until you receive your statement in the mail to get the 4-digit code. If you are adding a debit card to your PayPal account, your 4-digit Expanded Use code will be printed on your bank statement next to the charge.

Once you get the 4-digit code, you have to return to your PayPal account to enter the code per instructions from PayPal. Once completed, and PayPal confirms that you entered the correct code, you will now be able to use the card for PayPal transactions. The Expanded Use verification process is designed to protect you against fraud by verifying that the person attempting to use the credit card actually owns the card. PayPal will later credit the amount charged to your card to your PayPal account.

Now, here lies the problem with using prepaid or bank issued gift cards. If PayPal is unable to verify your address with the gift card issuer, then you may be asked to go through the Expanded Use process. Since most prepaid gift cards do not issue monthly statements or provide online access to gift card transactions, it will be impossible to complete the Expanded Use process. Also, it is not a good idea to call the credit card or gift card issuer to get the 4-digit Expanded Use code. If PayPal receives a complaint from your card issuer that you called them to get the 4-digit code, PayPal will close your account permanently.

So, the first step to attempting to use a prepaid gift card on PayPal is to make sure the name and address (billing address) on your PayPal account matches the name and address on file with the gift card issuer. If you just purchased your prepaid gift card, call the card issuer and add your name and address to the card. If your information (name and address) has changed since you registered your card, call the card issuer or go online and update your information before you use the card on PayPal.

Once this is done, you just have to hope that PayPal is able to successfully verify your address with the gift card issuer. If they are able to verify your address, then you are all set. If they cannot verify your address with the card issuer, then you probably will not be able to use that gift card on PayPal.

But surely to open an entropay card account, you will need to supply them id, and therefore your real name will be linked to the card, then paypal banning you again. Would you also use this for a bank account details?

Modee that info is relevent there in states, we dont have the SSN problem here in UK.they ask for documants like driving licence abd local housing tax bill.

That is how you life the $500 limit on the account. That is all the expanded use is I believe.

Does anyone have a spare Simon Gift Account that they can give me to use? I don't have a CC so I can't buy one myself. If someone can buy one for me that can be used for PP/Ebay verification I'll pay him back with PayPal.

i just did the $1.95 paypal confirmation and see the charge online but no expanded use information. hopefully it just takes a little longer for that info to be posted up?

yes, ive gotten the expuse code fine on prior cards and accounts. i added it as a visa card on a business account this time though. i see the $1.95 charge but like i said no expuse code this time.

called paypal to ask about it. said the code wouldnt show up for 3-4 business days which im pretty positive is b.s. cause it should be attached to the original charge once the charge shows up.

any idea if simon reuses numbers? it would be just my luck to get one thats already been used on paypal cause apparently visa only allows one verification.

Did any of you guys try recently verifiying your pp with a simon cc? I did not get the first 4 digits to verify it. All I got what the rest "PAYPAL#######"

Tried to lift 500.00 PP limit by adding Simon account, but didn't work, even though they have sent me an email that I added another cc to my Pay Pal.. My limit is still $500 a month. This is getting to be frustrating now.. Do I need to go get another gift card or do I need to ask my bank to give me another card? PP already have my bank account and 2 credit cards now... and I still have the limit...

Hi all and thank you for sharing your knowledge so we all do not have re-create the wheel. Aspkin, Modee, Ebayhateluv, and others, I am already indebted to you for your information. I am so-o-o confused!! I know you guys haven't heard that one before. HA! I have heard people say here that they have purchased Simon Cards WITH their REAL information (which is what I did & looked like I had to, when signing up in order for them to verify and send the gift account info). I have also seen posts where people are saying that they purchased a SIMON GIFT ACCOUNT and used the same ⊗⊗⊗⊗ personal info that they used on their new Ebay and PayPal accounts. I have seen Mr. Aspkin say that this card can be used for the sign up on Ebay and PayPal as they do not take the personal information from the card, just that the card is GOOD. Then, to VERIFY your PayPal account so that you do not start out with a limited account, you add the bank account information (which again, is TRUE personal information) so that PayPal can confirm that the routing number and account numbers are good, without having to worry that PayPal will get any other personal information from the account (i.e. Your Real Name, Your Address, etc.). I have also read elsewhere that you don't even need a bank account (and that many people do not know this) to verify for PayPal. You just need a VCC that supports DIRECT DEPOSIT and with this type of card you will receive an account number and a routing number. One of the cards is called I.C.E. Visa. However, I have not found a card that will do this yet as I.C.E. Visa is not available here where I live in Texas.

I have researched this specific topic for 2 full days straight and cannot seem to get an answer that is consistent. On top of this, some of the threads are 1, 2, or 3 months old and so this adds to my wariness. Quasi, I left you out as one of the posters on this board that I have also received very valuable information from. Sorry. And yes! I left out ALL of the important steps before. . . . . I had opened the other accounts prior to stumbling upon this awesome forum.
As I stated before, I seem to be getting conflicting information about how to verify my initial PayPal account. I have read Stealth and it has great information. However, Ebay seems to changing by the minute and after putting in all of the time and effort ignorantly before, I am cross referencing everything I am learning, hence the confusion. I purchased the SIMON GIFT ACCOUNT with REAL & TRUE information as it says that it verifies the information for accuracy. Since, Aspkin had stated in a previous post that PayPal and Ebay do NOT receive ANY of the personal information from the SIMON account, I figured I am fine with that. Ebay & PayPal just debit out of the account to make sure it is a working account. I will of course, have to use TRUE & CORRECT information to open the WAMU account as we all know and have come to understand that PayPal again, DOES NOT get ANY personal information from the bank except to check the account through the ROUTING & ACCOUNT numbers. I have not processed these steps yet but understand them.
This is where the confusion sets in. . .To VERIFY a new PayPal account (so that the initial limit is removed), one must have a debit card. The question that I cannot seem to find the answer to is:
1. Does PayPal get ANY personal information from the debit card? 2.Am I to use the debit card that comes with the WAMU account? OR 3. Is the Simon VCC along with the WAMU account information sufficient for PayPal VERIFICATION?

My Humble Understanding:
1. Use Simon Card to open NEW PayPal & Ebay accounts
2. Add WAMU routing & account #'s to PayPal for PayPal VERIFIED ACCOUNT
3. Once PayPal is a VERIFIED ACCOUNT, link PayPal to Ebay
(DO NOT SET UP AUTOMATIC PAYMENT OF EBAY FEES)
4. Use SIMON CARD to pay monthly Ebay fees
