Simon discontinuing Simon Gift Accounts..
 

I just got an email from simon.com saying they are discontinuing simon gift account purchases effective 8/19.

Are there any decent alternatives to paying your ebay fees? (Besides paying them through your paypal account?)

Ever dealt with customer service there? Simon.com is horrible...although after two years I finally got a direct contact number for the very helpful lady that actually processes the giftaccount purchases..

Doesn't look like it works like Simon.com..I can't figure out how to buy a VCC for someone else.

I DO NOT recommend Entropay for the USA...Had HORRIBLE experience with them...I used Vanillavisa...

This has me worried as well. What other accounts can we use? I have used Simon for years....

Dang only $100 max on a card...? My ebay fee's on each account easily exceed $500.. I may have to break down and pay my fee's through my paypal accounts... *sigh*

Me too..I think the first thing Im going to do is buy a gift account for each account I have to make sure all my accounts remain verified for another 2 years..(Because of the VCC's expiring.)

Thank god they are discontinuing them. They were worthless anyways and they never answer there phone when there's a problem. It took me a week to get a refund back with them.

To pay eBay fees you can use Gift2Go gift cards sold at your local BestBuy, BJS, Walgreens and Walmart stores. I have used these in the past and the best thing about it is that you don't have to register the card. Just log in, put the card numbers in the eBay system to pay the fees and you're done!

Except its not virtual and the mailing address has to match the mailing address on my ebay/paypal account I want to pay the fee's on. Which, in my case as I'm sure others, is not somewhere I can access.

I did a ton of research today..Essentially there is no VCC out there with features of Simon.com gift accounts. Those features being

- $500 per card
- Virtual Delivery

If there is let me know..I'm all eyes. :ranger:

I used to use Simon giftaccounts all the time until they started taking like 2 days to send them.

I was all setup and ready to start selling but I had to wait 2 days for the CC seller verification!

Since then I started going to Kroger and getting those re-loadable visas, they give you a temporary card and a real card or you can buy the two pack and get a total of 4 cards (2 temp 2 real). The minimum initial load amount is $10 per card. So the price I was paying for one Simon Giftaccount, I can get 4 cards from Kroger.

The BIG plus is they also give you a routing number and bank account number, so you have a bank to link to PP too.

So you get 4 verified PP accounts for $20

This Kroger thing is online?

Does anyone know a site that we can use to get the VCC? I just need it to lift the limit and verify my account. I am not paying ebay fees or anything like that? Come on guys someone has to know a site that works!

I spoke with Simon.com. Told them I needed to buy 10-15 cards per month and have them be verifiable for online purchases. Turns out a mall about 10 miles from me sells the actually physical cards (Loadable from $20 to $500). $2.95 per card. Went down and bought some, registered them online with the verifiable information and paid my ebay fee's. For now problem averted for me.

Dammit! I just went to buy a Simon VCC today and saw the Gift Accounts are gone! WTF! Why would you discontuing something people use??

I guess I'll have to start making a trip to Walgreens to buy some Gift Cards or something. I too just need to lift my paypal withdrawal limit. I also need mine for ebay to set as my automatic payment method.

The Simon VCC was the best thing going. $20 and VCC emailed 24hrs. Any solutions? :help:

I have also used the kroger visa and have had no problem using them with ebay in the past. I have not tried them with routing number yet but will today. thanks for reminding me about them. I like the idea of getting 2 cards for 1..in this case 4 cards for 2. im waiting on free cards from credit union but they are taking too long.

If simon allows you to fill in stealth info and then have the cc shipped to the purchaser's address (yourself) won't that work to lift the paypal lifmit and verify?

Yes, but you live in the US, there are SO many better options than ordering a card online and waiting over a week for them to send it to you.

Go to Wal-Mart or Kroger. I am willing to bet a dollar that there is one within a 10 mile radius from your house.

No, that's not it. You might have to go to a Kroger.

It is a Kroger branded greendot card. It's just cheaper than a greendot card from say a CVS or RiteAid.

You fill out the application with your real info.

But in PP you can make up a **** name and address with the same zip code (as the one you used on the card application) and it works fine.

Are you saying that only the zip code matters and that name and address could be ⊗⊗⊗⊗?, i.e., name and address can be anything with paypal and ebay when you use this card?

You can still use the kroger cc with paypal and ebay the only question that I have is how many kroger cards can you have. Has anyone gotten away with multiple kroger cards?

When I need another card, I just report mine "lost or stolen" you get another in about a week.

I never actually tried to go back and get another one from the store.

Will Kroger and Walgreens greendot debit cards will work the same way? I don't have a Kroger near me, but have Walgreens everywhere.

Also, with the Walgreens greendot card, would I be able to transfer money FROM paypal into the debit card (like a bank account?) if linked with routing number?

Welcome to the forums - Green dot card has proved to work for pa yp al but pp does screen for them from what I had been reading/hearing. Still works though.

rsot, thank you for the warm welcome. I'm definitely in the market for one, but a couple of folks up there implied that you would be able to link your routing number (thus receive funds). Is it true that you can receive funds on your green dot card as well as expend the funds?

I wouldn't bother with the Green Dot cards issued by Columbus Bank and Trust. Those are sold @ CVS so Walgreen might sell the same ones. They've been around for a while and by now, every scammer has used at least one. They'll reject the pp transfer if the names don't match. They'll also reject deposits over $400 once you start transfering regularly from PP, too often or didn't change your underwear. And when you think you can just deposit $300 a day, everyday, the ACH system will screw with you and randomly speed up or slow down your deposits so multiple $300's will show up on the same day. There are better products out there for the unbanked. I've seen a couple that specifically mention deposit limits for PP. For more information, check with Mastercard and Visa.

Now this question has probably been exhausted to death, but I received my simon gift card (under my stealth name) and I'm prompted to put my CC info into eBay and/or Paypal. I hear that Simon GCs are no longer accepted and gets you flagged and I ALSO hear that they work like a charm. Can anyone shed some light please? I'm stuck on the "sign up for paypal" screen. I also have an Accountnow card coming in the mail, should I opt for that card? Would that card work? Thanks so much.

You have to put your Simon card into PayPal not eBay. Then use PP to verify the eBay seller account. Do not put the Simon card directly into eBay.

For some reason it works in PP but not in EB.

I have been using accountnow cards for about 2 years now, haven't had a problem lifting limit in paypal, yet the only downside is they require a SS for U.S. accounts.
