Walmart Visa

I purchased a reloadable visa debit card from walmart. The initial pack came with a temporary card. I registered it online, and the 'real' card was here in 5 days! The real card has a different # than the temp. Also they accept direct deposit so I have a bank account and routing #. So I got 2 cc # and 1 bank account for $8. What a deal! ;)

ebayhateluv 02-09-2008 01:43 PM

HI- is that the Green Dot?

ebayvictim 02-09-2008 01:50 PM

Yes it is. I've used it on eBay but not PP. Hope it works there as well!

SuperBowl 02-09-2008 02:50 PM

in which walmart store this card is available?

thelizardking 02-09-2008 04:39 PM

From what ive heard you can't use if for a bank account on Paypal. Di you use the temp card for ebay?

ebayvictim 02-09-2008 04:54 PM

Yes, I used the temp card and the real card for seller accounts. What cards can you use for paypal?? Does AccountNow work? I ordered one of those as well but haven't activated it or put any money into it yet.

koalawash 02-09-2008 05:19 PM

Vanilla Visa and Simon giftcards both work for Paypal in my experience. There are different ways of getting around AVS depending which one you use, though.

ebayvictim 02-09-2008 05:25 PM

I mean which ones will the banking info work on paypal (account & routing #) I need a card I can use to verify bank account!

koalawash 02-09-2008 05:29 PM

hmm.. not sure there. Sorry. :o

Chris Hanson 02-09-2008 05:37 PM

Its a greendot card that will not work with Paypal. Greendot is known for freezing accounts if you use them with Paypal.. Also walmart cards require a SSn#

aspkin 02-09-2008 08:14 PM

Righty-O!!

ebayvictim 02-09-2008 08:59 PM

OK, several posts but NO HELP! LOL Why do I care if Walmart has my SS#....as long as paypal and ebay dont???? Obviously my priority is to keep my buyers away from paypal .... I have set up several options...goggle checkout, ccnow, and working on a merchant account. I have ebay, paypal and auctiva automated emails and checkouts disabled. I plan to send my own right now thru ccnow until I have a merchant account and can set up a website for my own checkouts. (Let me know if this is a bad idea! LOL) But I'm concerned about the idiots who will automatically pay with paypal. I don't want to lose money because it's just sitting there. Do I have to have a checking acct with paypal if I just use the balance for buying, etc.?

Lisa B 02-11-2008 12:58 PM

I'm going to post this again, here.

Walmart uses GE MONEY BANK FOR THEIR RELOADABLE VISA DEBIT CARDSNOT GREENDOT…………

I was backed against a wall and refused to cash my payroll checks at my credit union because I owe past due money for my car loan and I knew they would deduct whatever I owed and give me whatever was left. HECK! I need my money!

I started cashing my payroll checks at Walmart for a $3.00 fee, I also signed up for the Walmart reloadable debit visa card last December and yes they do require your real name, address and social, this didn’t bother me too much because all I wanted was a place to cash my checks with minimal fees.

I also had the option to load all or part of my payroll check onto my reloadable visa debit card which was pretty cool.

Walmart also has an option where you can direct deposit your payroll checks and set up a virtual checking account, complete with routing number.

Fast forward to this month, I managed to get bank to open a checking account for me (yes, I’m in Chex system) and now cash my payroll checks at my local bank.

Anyhow, I haven’t used my Walmart reloadable in a month or so and there is no money on it, I used it to open my PayPal account (I used a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name/address) when I signed up for PayPal and used the virtual account/routing # Walmart had set up for me and it worked.

PayPal sent two small deposits to my virtual account and I was able to log into my Walmart account and confirm the amounts with PayPal.

Again, Walmart uses GE MONEY BANK.

I also read on a different post PayPal/eBay cannot contact your bank for your social security so you should be OK with your Walmart Card.

What I plan on doing is transferring monies from my PayPal directly into my Walmart virtual bank account to get my money, I already have the Walmart visa debit to withdraw the funds immediately if need be.

If the chit hits the fan lateron, I can always call Walmart cancel my card or report it as stolen so PayPal gets nothing.

Chris Hanson 02-11-2008 01:13 PM

^^ Who ever said Greendot was a bank in the first place??? Greendot is a company...

Walmart Visa IS based upon Green dot. Greendot is not a bank, but it all comes down to it being a Greendot card with Walmart name on it.

Scroll to bottom of page and it says greendot and has the logo at bottom of page
https://www.walmartmoneycard.com/walmart/homepage.aspx

Also look at google search results..Its a Greendot card.. Do use it with Paypal, if greendot finds out they will freeze your funds...

My Walmart card has the green dot logo on the back of it.

i just bought one walmart prepaid moneycard visa and i didn't find any account number or routing number in the account that i opened in the temporary one?
any help?

ebayvictim 02-12-2008 10:21 AM

I believe you have to wait and receive the permanent card in the mail and then activate it. But then there's a direct deposit option under add funds. Enroll and print the direct deposit form. It will have a routing and account #

SuperBowl 02-12-2008 11:08 AM

thank you for your help.

Greendot

Just some info about greendot.

I had my greendot account frozen several months ago for using it with paypal. However, it was not used in the auction or goods arena. I was paying someone for a programming service. This is considered a cash advance according to paypal. So, Greendot froze my account for using the card against their policy. I was on hold for 45 minutes before anyone picked up (call center in phillipines). It was very nerve racking as I had quite a bit of funds on the card.

If you use your greendot for standard transactions such as purchases, auctions and things you are fine. If you use paypal to send someone funds (nonauction, nongoods), your greendot might be frozen and you will have a very difficult time getting it unfrozen.

Not a bad option. Just keep in mind that this type of card falls under the Patriot Act and is subject to being frozen at any time if they suspect any type of fraudulent activity. I use gift cards now instead of these that want to verify my ID. When I am done creating the account, I give the card to a niece or nephew for their pocket money since I have about 8 of them in college.

Well I had planned on withdrawing my auction funds from my PayPal and transferring them into my Walmart virtual account. or Greendot whatever its called.

ebayvictim - Have you tried transferring any funds from your paypal account and deposit them into your Walmart "Virtual Bank Account"

I already gave PayPal my Walmart Virtual Bank Account #/Routing # and even verified the deposits went through with PayPal and became verified, had them lift the $500 limit.

Now everyone on here is telliing me the Walmart Prepaid Visa Card AND the Walmart Virtual Bank Account, the one with the account # and routing # that I set up and got verified with PayPal is no good because Greendot really runs the Walmart Card/Virtual Banking Account and Greendot will freeze my funds once I transfer frunds from my PayPal account to my Walmart virtual bank account.

This sucks because I have money in my PayPal I can't get out for fear of Greendot freezing my funds.

What a waste of my time

ebayvictim 02-12-2008 06:11 PM

No, I haven't tried to use the banking info with paypal. I have only used the card #'s with ebay and paypal to verify credit cards. See my other post under readydebit. I saw on their website today that you can fund their cards via paypal. Doesn't help you now...but in the future... :)

Chris Hanson 02-12-2008 06:32 PM

Just to let you all know just because you have added a bank account and credit card to Paypal doesn't mean they will not limit your account. Actually they will limit your account much faster since you have a way of emptying your account and best believe if you don't know what your doing, as soon as you do a Paypal withdraw your going to get that oh so famous email by them.."Limited Account"

ebayvictim 02-12-2008 06:47 PM

Chris, I'm just testing the waters on a few accounts (I've set up 25+ to play with so far because I KNOW I don't know what I'm doing). I've taken extreme measures to set up 5 accounts using rented po boxes, wifi hotspots, etc that I'm letting age. I plan on them having 10+ feedbacks at 60 days before I start selling. Which is the same time my hold on ccnow will come off, I can receive paypal debit cards, etc. I DON'T CARE if the first few paypal accounts get frozen. If I can use them in the next 60 days, stay under their radar, and shop online with the money I'm cool with that.

coolandcalm 02-12-2008 06:53 PM

ebayvictim, i thought i saw a post on here today where CCnow is now asking for supplier information from someone, we might want to look into this further and let people (like me) with CCnow accounts aging....if they are getting to be like paypal we need to know.

I saw that. I've asked on another thread...maybe someone will help out there or here! What info is passed between ccnow and ebay. That knowledge could provide the answer to who they're checking!!!!!

Every product I sell is different. I sell estates for regional auction houses and do very little product liquidation. So the content of my auctions is never the same. I don't know if that's related, but I've never had paypal or anyone want proof of my suppliers or payment for inventory.

ebayhateluv 02-12-2008 07:04 PM

HI:
FYi< i use cnow everyday, since august..
I think some of the folks getting the added info requests maybe:
a.) out of the usa
b.) selling high risks goods
c.) not requesting direct deposit, want a check sent to a po box?
Some possibilities??
BTW- I've ran over $70,000 through ccnow since august, not even 1 email from them...

ebayvictim 02-12-2008 07:09 PM

But CCNow verifies who the winning bidder is and their info right? I saw suggested on the forum that you can use CCnow to empty gift card balances, etc. But will that work only if the buyer and gift card name matches? I tried it and didn't work.....trying to figure out where I went wrong. My brilliant idea was to start the first payment myself to get a head start on the initial 30-45 day? hold. Where did I go wrong?

coolandcalm 02-12-2008 07:10 PM

Thanks for elaborating ebayhateluv, good to know you havent had a problem. I shouldnt either since i am in the usa and selling ANTIQUES as well as some items ebay considers VERO, but are estate used items. I have direct deposit to bank and plan on doing about 5000 through ccnow a month to start out. So hope all goes well.

coolandcalm 02-12-2008 07:13 PM

great idea ebayvictim, i am with you on that. You are right, problem with that is you have to have an item number that they can match to ebay and then put in a tracking number that the item was sent. Maybe listing a small inexpensive item, use one of your buyer accounts to bid on it, then end the auction early and sell it to yourself. Then use the gift card to pay for it and ship it to yourself with a tracking number? Hmmmm......

ebayhateluv 02-12-2008 09:25 PM

Cooland Calm, Got a workaround, pm me.. :)

yaBe 04-15-2008 01:49 AM

ah crap, I just got one of these and registered it and dont see any bank acct type info, all I see is the "moneypak"

:-(

doughboykilla 04-15-2008 10:17 AM

Greendot will not let u load it from paypal as well as google checkout eather i have tried it already and they locked the card till i called them and they said i couldnt use it for online payment severices and then they unlocked it.

But heres a idea i belive might work if u have a greendot card u can attch ING saveings accounts to it and use the saveings accounts on paypal and google then send the money from ing to greendot :)

Just a FYI, I have been using a Wal-mart Green Dot Pre-paid Visa card as a secondary bank account on a verified business PayPal account.

I have successfully received verification deposits from PayPal to verify the pre-paid card as a bank account and have transferred separate amounts of $4.00, $20.00, $400.00 and $900.00 USD directly from the PayPal balance to the pre-paid card with no problem or limitation. (Knock on wood.)

YMMV.

N.B. I don't believe the Wal-mart Pre-paid Visa card can be used to verify a PayPal account. While it works, there is evidence that suggests that PayPal will limit an account that tries to use a pre-paid card for this reason (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=re...TL3VYgxdt7JROQ).

I've never tried these cards as bank accounts. Where are the numbers for the account posted or available? I went to the Walmart site but the info was weak.

So will it or won't it?

Thanks

The walamrt visa is a greendot card with the walmart logo on it. Greendot and paypal are in bed togather so chances are it will work but u can bet that the names have to match both pp and the visa.
