Tactic for Credit Card Verification eB/PP

I thought of a way to get CC verified for new eB seller accounts and PP accounts...

So I created my new eB and PP account with a completely unique name and phone number. For the address, I used the address of a house in my same zip code and with the same house number (i.e. "1234" W Jackson St). For the credit card, I just report one of my personal CC's as stolen so I get a brand new number issued. My new CC should work with eB and PP, but not link to me...??

I'm under the impression that eB and PP only look at the house number and zip code when they verify the CC, so should this work??

Any feedback on if this will work or not would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Nobody has experience with this or has tried this??

AVS system works by number and zipcode true so it should work. I have no real comment on this since I don't like using addresses I don't have access to in general but for verification, should really be no issue.

I, however, would not report of my personal CC's to be "stolen". I would just call up the company, explain that my card is mangled due to XYZ reasons, figure a good time to get new account and have new card issued.

The REASON for this is that any issues of "stolen" or "lost" card are ALWAYS logged by the company. So, in the future, if it ever REALLY does happen - company will see past history of this and may take further action (i.e: Sir you are liability - we do not want your business) - unlikely but potentially.

thing is, mangled card may get you the very same card number again, it has to be stolen to guarantee a new number, but as rsot said bad idea to do more than as a one-off..

You can ALWAYS request your cc company for a new card number if you suspect it - I have done it - no bad mark on your file.

Actually I should have said reported as lost rather than stolen. Then you get a new CC number, but nothing negative on the old card...
