Default Mbna uk

Am pissed, hope someone can help me.

I had an MBNA c/c and I paid it off over the phone, told the idiot on the other end, that I want to close the account.

He says there is some interest that needs to be paid, and will be going through soon, So i told him to take what he thought would be enough to cover it.

So they took more off me then my balance, which shows up , i thought everything was paid.

Then i get a statement (i stupidly avoided) saying i owe them £74

Cut a long story short I have been defaulted by them, and I would like to know how I can get them to remove the default as i do not think i am fully responsible for this.

Any help? Do I need to go to the ombudsman?

thanks

What was the entire amount you paid off? If the balance was accruing (e.g. cash advance), you would still be liable for whatever interest had been generated up to the day of paying the balance off.

Hi rsot>

I have just done a credit check on the particular card

from 2010 onwards, by interest on the card was between £24-£45 The £45(March 11) was two months before i paid the the balance off in may 2011. April of that year the interest was £42, I overpaid by £45 , so even though they are saying my interest payment didnt go through, it would render it redundant as I had covered whatever charges would have been applicable , however having spoken to them 3 times now, they still do not seem to see this, and they keep saying my last payment did not go through.

The dummy I spoke to today, kept harping on about the same crap again, so I told them if they do not get someone else to speak with me , someone with some authority regarding these matters then I will be left with no alternative other than to default the other two credit cards I have with them.

NB::: To any and everyone , NEVER EVER lend money to ANYONE from a C/C. This mess is the culmination of lending money to a relative, and not seeing it returned.

Oh, My threat worked. Up until that point, they (insert any dummy here) kept telling em it is my fault and that there is nothing they can do, and i need to pay the balance off and the default wont be removed. Since threatening them, it didnt take her long to change her tune and tell me someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

If they do not remove it, Ill default the other two cards, makes no difference to me, as the default has stopped me from getting any cards(normal current accounts), cards which were easy to come by before they done this.

I hear you - 1. yes don't do loans from cc's...their cash advance rate is insane but 2. yes if you speak to superiors, you should be able to get a waive on the interest one time...don't deal with these csr phone lackeys.

its not about the interest, its about being defaulted, which is a red mark against your credit score. This has to be removed, and I do not think they are going to budge, but ultimately if they do not, they will be cutting their noses off to spite their face.

That's a dumb way to have done it.

Your file will still be marked.
