Using Simon cards...to buy more Simon cards!
 

If this works, it will be very useful for those of you who constantly gets suspended or have multiple ebay accounts.

Ok, we all know about simon's prepaid card, how they require a minimum of $20 for a card. Can't we buy one card say for $24 prepaid, then use that card to buy a $23 prepaid (leaving the first card with only $1), and use the second to buy a $22 prepaid... etc etc.

So in the end you'll have 5 cards, (4 of them have $1 in them, and one has $20) which costs only $24. Instead of buying 5 cards with minimum of $20 (total to $100).

Haven't tried it myself, but technically it should work.

*EDIT* - So it seems it's been verified that this method DOES work. A user reported ebay/paypal charges approxmiately $2, probably for verification and should get the $$ back shortly after. In that case, it might be a good idea to keep, say $5, in each card.

It could, but I find often I have to keep at least a little more available just in case the card is rejected the first time due to some glitch (it happens). This just means you would have less than 5 cards, but still it's worth a try. Anyone care to give it a shot? I don't think I'd ask them though directly. You'd probably just be told no and they'd change it so you can't.

I've called them a while back and asked but the rep said no. You can try it though and see what happens and report back here.

LOL! It sure does work. I started with a $50 simon account and used it to buy 2 more giving me 3 total. Only problem is ebay and paypal double verified my account.. 4-5 dollars total plus the 1.95 paypal CC verification fee, if you use your CC to become verified. My point be same and leave yourself about 8 dollars on each simon card

Yes, but once they verify, you do get all that money back correct? Other than using the card to buy other cards and paying the fees on each account associated with that card, what can you use the cards for? I just don't want to be stuck with X amount of dollars on a card and find I can only use it once a month and that's IF the account doesn't get suspended in the meantime. And if it did, I suppose you could use it to buy yet another card for a new account, but pretty soon you would have more virtual cards than you know what to do with. Can you use these cards for anything else?

Ah so you can buy a simon card with another simon card. This is good to know. The only other question I have to figure out now is how to get back on ebay.

Paypal doesn't ask for expanded use with simon gift accounts.

No I am not, I used a simon gift account on a paypal account and they never asked for it. They only ask for expanded use when they can't verify the name and address on the visa card.

Modee is right.. The AVS just verify address. I know this becuase I have a merchant account and sometimes I disable AVS and etc...


I have to agree with expanded use, they ask for that everytime..

I've signed up with paypal 4 different times using different CC#s. Two of which were gift cards with names and address on them and the only time they've asked for an expuse is when I gave them a VCC which has none.

So if that's the case, can you not use a VCC to register a new paypal account? Or is it just that you won't be able to get away with it for long? Wouldn't the only time that comes into play after the original sign up be when there is some conflict on your account or a limitation caused by a dispute or whatever?

Can I buy a Simon gc and use it to buy another Simon gc? I would like to do this 31 times so that the balance in each card is used to pay for the next one.

Will this raise a red flag at Simon? I want to follow feebay balling's tip on creating 31 new ebay accounts.

Hmmm, I'm suspect Simon has a way to detect this easy. I'm not sure if it's against the rules are not, but it sounds like it could be. :)

When you buy the Simon gift cards are you required to use your real name and address or are you using the same ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name that you are using on the new ebay accounts you are setting up?

I use my real information. Simon doesn't pass that information onto eBay. EBay has whatever you give them.

I purchased a 100 dollar Simon card. I then used that Simon card to buy another card worth 97 dollars with a different name. This left me with the original card with 3 dollars on it and the new card with 97. I then tried to use the card with 97 on it to buy another card and it won't work.

Does anyone have any info as to why the first transaction worked and the second one did not?

So that may explain why i tried buying some last night but my bank issued debit/credit card got rejected.

Just bought a VISA branded Gift card at the local Grocery Chain, called Super Fresh, you buy it and then go online to allcardsaccess i believe it is, it works. They have them on the shelf for $10 $25 $50 and $100, however, they charge $4.95. I remember last Christmas the Drug Stores had alot of gift cards hanging by the checkouts, I bought several as gifts, these do not need a phone call or on line access, they are automatically ready. BUT, if you need them to verify name./address you must do that on line.

I've been buying simon accounts using other simon accounts for months, but this time trying to do the same thing, they simply didn't send me an account. I contacted the customer service and here's what they said:

"Dear Customer,

Unfortunately you attempted to purchase a Simon Giftaccount using another Simon Giftaccount as the funding source. We are unable to complete your order due to this. Your account is being cancelled and refunded accordingly.

So do you have to spend $22 for each new card nowadays? I used to just buy a simon account for $50 and then spend only $3 for each new simon card ($2 simon fee + $1 for eBay verification). Are there any other alternatives to Simon that send virtual accounts fast and work for eBay and Paypal?

Can I use a simon vcc to purchase another simon vcc?
 

I was just wondering. I'm pretty sure you can't do this but thought I might save myself my cash for these verification purposes...

It can be done but you cant take any time off. I still had some money on my last Simon vcc but temporarily stopped making new accounts everyday. A few months went by and they shut the last acct down.

goose, there is an expiry date on the front of the card. That tells you when to have spent the money.

sorry to say but no you cannot buy a simon with a simon. I tried just last night and it was declined. Don't know why but i am having a hard time trying to use the funds on it. I have 1 card with $8 and another with $65 on it. I will probably use it for ebay fees but don't want to wait to spend it. I tried using simon gift account through bestbuy, circuit city, pizza hut, and more and all declined to accept it.

What is also weird is, I had a liquor store willing to help me out, by entering the numbers in their terminal but it said it can't be accepted. Anyone know of what i can do to cash these suckers out?

anothing, anybody tried loading epassporte with their simon card? Maybe this may be a way to empty the simon accounts that i seem to not have any luck with

Why not speak to simon's customer service to check what exactly is wrong?

I have never encountered a problem while using my plastic Simon Card.
Nor being used for On Line Purchases,

The biggest factors are you must first register the card then use the same information
that you used when you registered the card for online purchases. Including Name &
Address.

You MUST also keep a eye on your available balance,
Both eBay & Pay Pal temp. reserve at least $1 each for about 7 - 10 days before the
transaction is declined and the funds are once again made available on the card.
Naturally while the funds are being held your account balance is lowered,
and transactions above the available limit will be declined.

Also, I use my remaining balances for gas purchases & no gas station has ever had a
problem with the Gift Cards. I then use the cash I would of used for the gas to purchase
additional Gift Cards.

What you can do is add that card to the same paypal that you it is vefied with than use the paypal plug-in to make a secure card to purchase another simon that should work. Maybe...maybe not. I haven't tried it yet but it's worth a shot. If you try it and it works, let everyone know.:)

well i got an email from simon about this subject. They said that you cannot purchase a simon with another simon. I asked because i was denied when i tried earlier. But just to pass this on to whoever wants to know.. But it doesn't matter as the card is cheap anyhow.

Hey guys! I'm back to this forum because of this issue. I tried to purchase a simon card with a simon card today and it no longer works. Guess they've changed the system. Bummer.

I tried the idea using the simon vcc to buy a vcc off of the paypal plug-in and it will work if the account has already a verified cc on it, but, if like most people want to do is use it to get a new vcc on a new account to get it verified it will not work because once again you must have a verified cc on the account before you can use the paypal vcc plug-in. Hope this explains the question.

It will still work you just will have to send a payment to an account that you have already a verified cc on and then use the balance received from the simon giftcard to purchase a vcc via plug-in.

The only sucky thing is when you transfer the balance from the simon gift card to the other paypal account you will be charged the fee of course. So, when buying your multiple simon gift cards via vcc from paypal only buy $20 cards and then after using it to verify whatever account you need, send the rest of the balance back to the already verified account to keep fees low!

I bought one a week ago and I activated the card. Then today I wan to use it, I can't find the card #. How can I get back the card #?

log in to your simon account and it will be there. Note you must use internet explorer to look up your simon card information.
