open checking account issue
 

question: opening checking and saving account will result hard pulls in your creditscore in US? i never knew that! thought only credit card application is hard pul!! if it's true i should stop opening bank accounts now as we plan to buy a house soon!

i just opend 3 accounts with boa and one with ing direct. that will be 4 hard pulls? and somebody said ing can't do the name mismatch? if i go to local credit union, to ask for an account without credit, just basic, that will then be a soft pull?

what about the walmart money card/checking account? are they useable?

The banks that do check your credit history never do a "hard check", they all do a "soft check". And they mostly check if you have any bad history with chex sytems.

And ING does accept paypal deposits with mis matched names. I use them right now. Walmart money card still works but its not good for the long term.

^ Above post is correct. How credit works can be a tricky issue, but if you are buying a house soon, the bank rep should have gone through all of this with you.

Soft pull is done whenever you are NOT applying for credit - just to see your financial stability.

thanks very much! that is good to know, i researched on internet and there was confusing info, even a long list complied on fatwallet or something telling which bank does hard pull.

on this forum, ppl are saying ing no no, but i trust if you have tried yourself that must be true. last question: does the withdraw bank - not the verification bank or debit card - has to pass avs as well? means all the street nr. and postcodes have to correspond to stealth info?
