Card One Banking UK - Tested:update 3/4/2013
 

I've seen a couple of threads on here regarding Card One Banking which is a Prepaid Bank account for the UK.

Their are alot of other cheaper options in the UK but I thought I would give them a try to clear up some of the confusion, also I understand that some people don’t want a large number of bank accounts showing on their credit reports

Basically if you are registered to vote at your address you can open an account online in around five minutes (It takes a couple of days if your not), they charge £12.50 to open an account and then a monthly fee of £12.50.

You receive a unique account number and sort code for your virtual bank along with a Prepaid Debit card. You can load fees onto the card for free to make online payments and they charge £1.50 for an ATM withdrawal. If you want to move funds back from your card into your account they charge £5

I've used the bank account with both Amazon and PayPal which worked fine at first but after around 4 deposits from PayPal I was unable to login, I contacted them and they told me that my PayPal payments had a different name than my account. I told them it was my partners name and all they requested was a screenshot of the payment transfer from the PayPal account to unblock the hold and add the name as a nickname for incoming payments.

I found the best way to move money out of the account was through a direct transfer into one of my other accounts, its free to transfer if you are happy to wait two days or you can pay £7.50 for a same day transfer.

In summary Card One Banking can work for stealth but the fees are way too high, you would be better off opening a basic saver account with a UK high street bank which costs nothing. Card One Banking should be a last resort if you are unable to open an account with anyone else (Which should never be the case)

Quite the high price for basic maintenance.

I would never use them if they were the last available bank in the UK. Shockers to deal with should you ever have financial woes.

Just got a call from them again about another PayPal deposit not in my name, I explained that I was told this was OK but this was not correct.

They have allowed this payment through but won't with anymore, testing finished time to empty and close this account.

Don't even bother I can 100% confirm that Card One Banking is no good for stealth

Same here. Cardone banking no longer works. They held my money

Cardone blocked my account as the paypal is coming from a different name (stealth). They asked proof that the money is meant for me. I said that its my partners paypal account and we are using my cardone bank account for withdrawal

Will I get in trouble with credit files here because of this? Will Cardone mark fraud on my credit file etc ?

I'm so worried

Since it is Card One, do not trust them at all.

Card One do bad things in the UK.

You can only reappraise after a reply from Card One.

Good thing they unblocked my account but told me not to do it again
Needless to say, I'm spending all my money from cardone then close it in a few weeks!

My follow-up suggestion is to obtain your credit score say 14 days after you close your Capital One account.

great. I just purchased a card one account in the morning for the purpose of stealth. If only i read earlier. As long as there was no issue in the adding the bank account to stealth, then it can still be used right? The only problem from what i can gather was withdrawing from paypal to that account.

I just did the same after reading yesterday in a posting on here that this was one of the online banks that it was easy to open an account with that had no hassles!

Can u not use a stealth account with your own name in a different town for Cardone?

i have just got everything set to go on my stealth accounts only to find out i can't use entropay for ebay and paypal verification is this true?

Bank accounts verify.

VCC confirms after the PayPal has already been verified.
