paying chinese websites without paypal

Hi

so i have been using this website for around 8 months, based in china for personal use where i buy clothing and shoes for my self.

recently they have stopped accepted using paypal but have other payment methods available

which one is the safest? in terms of nobody else will get hold of my debit card details and no other amount will be taken from my bank account?

payment methods are:
western union
bank transfer
money gram
realpay (visa card)
ECPSS (visa card)
ECMCPAL (visa card)

which one shall i go for?

I usually do wu and ask for discount because it has higher buyer cost and usually zero seller costs but know that if they take off with your money it is gone

mista_khan 06-14-2013 10:32 AM

yeap so wu isnt my fav and although i have good relationship with seller i woudnt risk it,

what about any of the debit card payment methods, they any safer?

Pay with credit card - increased protection from your cc company...

mista_khan 06-14-2013 06:58 PM

okay but what happens if i dont have a credit card,

which of the above is the safest way to pay?

All three methods, Western Union, MoneyGram and Bank Transfer are fairly safe in terms of getting the seller their money. But if the seller decides to rip you off, you have no recourse, none are reversible.

These are only recommended if you have a relationship with the seller - if they want your future business, they are much less likely to rip you off.

Since you are UK based, you are lucky enough to have protection if you use a debit card that has a VISA logo.

Of the options mentioned, debit cards should work.

UK has some nice laws for claims.

what about these methods?

realpay (visa card)
ECPSS (visa card)
ECMCPAL (visa card

i just find it easier to use my card but never have used the above 3 payment methods?

GreenBean 06-14-2013 07:21 PM

We cross-posted.

I mentioned the VISA card as being acceptable.

mista_khan 06-14-2013 07:31 PM

also as im paying the balance in dollars, do uk banks have a extra charge for different currency pay outs?

jeffweico 06-14-2013 07:34 PM

If you have confidence in your supplier, sometimes Western Union is a good option. It costs me to send the money, but he gave me a 15% discount, so I come out ahead. Been working well for 4 years now. I always told myself, he can only screw me once - but it has never happened.

i think with WU i remember one bad experience with my brother and he lost 600 gbp to a stranger back in 2005, that has stuck in my head so i dont want to play with WU lol

danshan 06-14-2013 07:38 PM

Yeah but you can make more than 600 in savings if you get a reliable source and pay with wu. Life is a risk wear a medical mask

I understand. About 20 years ago, when I was young and stupid, I sent someone in India money via Western Union for something I shouldn't have been ordering, and I got ripped off for $200. Back then, it was a lot of money for me to lose.

But my supplier has always been good to work with - even replacing items without asking me to send them back to China - so when he proposed using Western Union, I felt comfortable with it.

mista_khan 06-14-2013 07:43 PM

yeah thats understandable, i mean i think its a good idea and he does offer 10% discount on WU

I have used Realpay in the past - they do have some fraud protection if I recall correctly.

Couldn't you just opt for a prepaid card if you are really that worried about them getting your real card number?

Could be that OP is not really worried about that part but has other intentions
