Street / Zip verification

I took me a while to collect this info, so I hope it helps someone out.

After some experimenting with my merchant account, here's what I found about the current VCCs:

Vanilla Visa: Passes the zip code check, but fails the street address checks.

I use Vanilla Visa's for almost all of my stealth stuff without a problem, so my assumption is that most sites (like Amazon and PPal) only care about the former check, so the latter probably doesn't matter in most cases.

One Vanilla: Passes the zip code check, but fails the street address checks. YMMV, but I recently used my first One Vanilla on an Amazon stealth account and got my account deleted (the version where you enter in your email and password and it says that your password is wrong even if you reset it).

AMEX: Passes the zip code check and passes the street address checks (to get a street address associated with the account you have to call the number). As an aside, I've successfully changed my street and zip on my AMEX although it seems like you can't change the name. My merchant account doesn't have name verification so unfortunately, that's not something I was able to test out with any of the cards.

When you refer to zipcode checks, and street address check...are you referring to testing the cards with your Merchants account?

Are these tests for amazon or paypal?

:spy:

Yep, I'm talking about testing the cards with my merchant account. I enter the CC # and other information, and do a $1 charge on the card. Then after the charge, I can use the API to see which of the tests (zip code verification, street verification...etc) passed.

The tests are on my VCCs (Vanilla Visa, One Vanilla, and prepaid AMEX gift card).

I've successfully used my Vanilla Visas with both Amazon and PayPal, so I'm assuming that both Amazon and PayPal don't care about the street-level verification test and only care about the zip-code verification test.

Essentially, this is just 1 data point. For all I know, One Vanillas may work very well with Amazon, but I just screwed something up. However, given Vanilla Visa's history of being reliable, I don't intent to spend money on another One Vanilla to test if it works.
