Why use separate pre paid cards?

Hi all. I've been reading the stealth book and I'm at the bank account section. Can someone clarify why the book is recommending a separate prepaid card to go with the bank account. When you create an online bank account you have the option to get a checking card with it. Why not just get a checking card with a new banking account instead. Also, some of the recommended prepaid card brands have an "*" next to them. Should these be avoided from now on? Perhaps I am interpreting incorrectly.

You never use the card from the bank account becasue it fails the AVS.

Hello Greenie. I'm not quite understanding. How would a checking a card I got from my online bank account fail AVS? It would be issued by the same bank I got my account from. Previously, I used my business checking account with my business checking card in paypal and it was accepted.

Re: Why use separate pre paid cards?

The Bank Card you get from your bank has your "REAL" address on it, if your real address is:
7666 Main St
Somewhere, State 92323

But your Stealth address is:
8323 Stealth St
Anywhere, State 93233

The card will not pass the AVS check, this is why we use Gift Cards that can be modified to the zipcode that matches the stealth address.

Bank accounts are fine because it's illegal to share personal information unless it's another bank which Paypal is not.

That's why they out 2 deposits and than u need to verify the deposits so they know u have control of the account but can't see ur name address nothing just account and routing

If u used the debit card from your real bank account when Paypal charges your card for 1.95 when u want to lift the $500 a month limit than I they receive your name and address on your card when they charge it

That's why we add a bank and a VCC

It is perfectly fine to use your debit card that comes with the bank account as long as the stealth account is in the same zip code as the address associated with the bank account/debit card. It will pass AVS with no problem (AVS is only related to zip code). Also Paypal will not be able to obtain any addition information from the $1.95 charge. Only the address and name you give them. I do it on several accounts and it works just fine.

Oh, I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up everyone. I have a new issue now. I was denied a bank account for bad credit. I am using a family members paypal and ebay accounts. If I make sales and send the money from my father's paypal to my personal paypal, would that be a red flag?

If you have bad credit...

1. prepaid debit cards
2. checking with non chexsystem banks
3. checking with local credit unions (most non chexsystem or no credit pulls)
4. Savings instead of checking from chexsystem banks

If you send routine payments between accounts they will all get linked, and if something goes wrong they all go down.

Big potential for linking of the 2 accounts - not recommended. There must be bank accounts you can get - like Second Chance checking accounts or so

Re: Why use separate pre paid cards?

Thanks a lot. I definitely won't be doing that.

With that said, I'm looking into getting a prepaid Vanilla Visa Gift Card. Just to make sure, this same will let me establish a seller account in ebay and work as verification in ebay right?

Also, does anyone have any other specific brand of gift cards they recommend? I fear I may have trouble finding this gift card.

The Gift Card is only for Paypal, it's not required for Ebay itself. Ebay will require you to give them the 4 digit code they send to your phone.

Vanilla Visa will be your best bet, I do have another Gift Card I use but I don't have a clue if it's available everywhere.

It comes in MasterCard and Visa Formats...
Please don't ask me what store I get them from because the stores I get them from may not exist in your area.

Thanks. Surprisingly I found the Vanilla Visa. I bought the gift card version. But ebay did require me to add a card when creating a seller account just now.

Sorry but exactly in which way are you creating the account(s)?
I know during the seller account creation it will take you to a page to create the Paypal account and that's where the Gift Card will be entered.

Perhaps he is entering the card for where you can select ways to pay FEES on eB when creating seller account...

I did the same thing when starting my first stealth, and I
also got a message that the details on that they can't verified the details
on the card (and my address).
Not sure if it "helped" me getting the mc999, or it was JUST the lousy address
I entered.

In this case, if gift card is not necessary for ebay, and just linking pp for
paying fees is OK, why do sellers on this forum offer vcc for ebay?

I am a bit confuse about vcc and eBay. I understand the role of them
when creating pp account.

MM78 01-01-2014 02:19 AM

Re: Why use separate pre paid cards?

You only really need the VCC/Gift Card for Paypal, you don't need a VCC for Ebay.

gonzoman 01-01-2014 02:33 AM

Re: Why use separate pre paid cards?

Thanks MM78.
It makes me feel even more dumb for choosing the option to pay seller fees with cc, when all I really had to do was linking pp.
I am still concern about providing the stealth address when I start selling.
I had bad experience with that. but it is probably the address I chose.

Re: Why use separate pre paid cards?

Why use a gift card When 90% of all major banks provide you with unlimited vcc's created by your own bank account, which allows you to verify, receive expuse code, pay etc..... and usually are free to create unlimited vcc's as well from said account.
