Online-only banks that allow funds to be sent and received
 

Are there any online banks that I can sign up at online, without having to go it in-person, that allow funds to be received and sent from the account(most likely by ACH transaction via routing and account number)? I'd like to join my debit card and/or my bank account(both have been banned by Amazon, Ebay, and PP) to an account like this.

Does anything like this exist?

I have also been looking but just because I want access to banks outside my radius of "in-person visits"

Usually online-only banks give the most trouble with stealth (at least in my experience they have).

The closest thing to your description I can think of is USAA. You need to either be in the military, or be related to someone who was in to be eligible for an account. But they're online only, don't care about mismatched deposits, has no minimum balance requirements or monthly fees, and is a great ACH hub to transfer funds to/from other bank accounts you own.

I would use my SSN, so it would be tied to me, but I wouldn't want Amazon/PP/Ebay knowing that.

That's what I am looking for.

Yeah they wouldn't be able to find out your SSN just because you added a bank account to their site. You need to use your SSN to open a US bank account regardless if it's online only or not.

I did an inquiry and yes, military or relation to a service member...ah well

Yeah it wasn't always like that. Up until the end of 2013 anyone could join regardless if you were in the military (or affiliated with someone who was). It's a shame because they're overall a really great bank.

I think some of you misunderstood what I mean by using my SSN. I didn't word it the best way though.

What I meant, is that I don't mind using my SSN to open an online bank account. In fact, I could fund it with my current bank account(the one that is permanently suspended from Amazon/PP/Ebay), and hopefully have the funds sent to my current bank account(via routing and account numbers).

I would rather not go into a bank, fill out forms, bring different forms of identification, and have to sit and talk with them. Basically an online bank account that can be used to receive/send funds. Basically an alternative for PP.

For the most part, I want something that isn't likely to get locked for no reason. If I give them all of my personal information, I feel that I should get a good bank account.

Then you can choose pretty much any bank. Bank of America, PNC, Wells Fargo, Citi, and Chase are all banks I have accounts with in some capacity and that allows you to open accounts online or over the phone without ever having to set foot in a branch.

In my experience, BoA is the fastest with withdrawals/deposits (from Paypal or other banks) and Citi is the slowest.

But you'll want to check out each bank's fee chart to see which makes best sense for you.

Will these banks also send me a card that I can use at the ATM? I wouldn't mind having a card, but it's not a big deal.

Yeah there's usually a section in the application where they ask if you want a debit/ATM card or not. You'll get the ATM card and the PIN number in the mail separately.

That would be ideal. An account with a routing number, that can receive/send funds online, that also has a virtual card that could be used for verification and any other payments. That way I get paid and pay out, all from the same account, without having to move funds. I'm trying to keep it simple.

A few banks do offer that, but if you want one for verifying Paypal or anything in a stealth name, none of the virtual cards you get from major banks will work since they wouldn't pass AVS check (your billing address on file with the bank wouldn't match the address on your Paypal account). But just for shopping in general, then these would work.

Ones that I know of are: BoA has Shopsafe (generates a one-time use virtual card number) and Citi has Virtual Account numbers which works the same way (you can even use your credit card rewards points to generate a virtual card). I have a credit card with both of them so I'm not sure if that's a requirement for using these virtual cards or not. Also, Discover used to, but not anymore.

You can use Entropay if you need to create virtual cards that would pass AVS check for Paypal. But you would still need a separate bank account.

It sounds like you want to be able to make a virtual bank account , the above posts are talking about virtual credit cards

You want one bank account and want to be able to make as many virtual bank accounts from the one bank account

Is this what you are looking for?

I think certain business accounts your able to make a virtual bank account but I have no idea if it's something you can create at will like Entropay with credit cards

Best is to call around different banks and explain to,them what u would like

But I don't think I ever seen this service for a personal checking account

Yes, two separate questions.

The question about Entropay, is because I am looking for a replacement for the Vanilla Visas that I've been buying. Those $4.95 charges add up.

I would like a service like Entropay that allows me to create a bunch of virtual cards. Even if it costs a couple of dollars to create each card, it's better than going to the store and paying $20 + $4.95 and then having to spend most of the $20.

Entropay would be your best option for that, but be careful in the beginning about creating too many cards because they're pretty sensitive about that.

Ideally you would mix both Entropay and Vanilla Visas. Walmart.com has Vanilla Visas with a cheaper activation fee (the $25 variety is $27.88 total). You can spend the remaining amount on things you already buy weekly like gas and groceries.
