Question on Vanilla pre-paid gift cards

Please forgive my ignorance but with the all these pre-paid cards vanilla et al. don't they ask for SSN when you register the card?

How are we supposed to put in different name and address on these cards when we have to put in SSN's to register the card?

I wouyld really appreciate any help on this? Thank you:confused:
