Has anyone been able to purchase BTC lately?

Really I'm wanting to buy ether, but I would settle for BTC as it can easily be swapped for ether. I've been trying for the past 3 weeks to get "verified" on one of these exchanges, and haven't had any luck yet. All of the sites let me register but so far none have checked the documents I've submitted. I've tried Kraken and coinmama. Oh and localbitcoins but even that is d*mn near impossible to use for a newly registered user. Also tried Coinbase since I've had an account with them for over a year. Even my Coinbase account now requires further verification before I can buy BTC with $. I used to buy BTC on Coinbase all the time but apparently new legislation requires them verify users identity, which they apparently suck at doing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can easily buy BTC or Ethereum?

Just to be clear I'm not looking to be scammed by a forum member, but I am open to suggestions. Please let me know if any of you spooks have any suggestions.

LBC should be pretty easy to use even if you are new

What method are you trying to use to buy the BTC or ETH via?

Ideally I would like to pay for them using either a CC or bank transfer. But I can't get far enough with any of the exchanges to even give them my financial information. I'm still waiting to be "verified" on both Coinbase and Kraken, and I've been stuck on that status for weeks.

I tried LBC over the weekend. While I'm sure there are some merchants on there who I can buy from, the vast majority refuse to deal with a newly registered user with no transaction history. Those who will deal with a new user seem to be charging $6000-$7000 per BTC

It may be worth looking for someone local who is happy to do either a cash deposit or a cash in person exchange

I've had the same struggle as of recent. For the last 2 months in fact. Trying to buy bitcoin using coinbase is very difficult. They'll throw random errors all the time.

Try closing your account down, and starting from scratch using the coinbase mobile app - that has worked a little better for me. Even if your all verified, you still get a ludicrous weekly buying limit of around £50, which takes forever to increase.

I may be wrong, but I think Kraken and Coinbase are different, in that with the former one you dont actually own the bitcoins/ether. Your just putting money on it going up/down... Im not 100% sure though.

I think all platforms have become really busy as of recent since theres been huge spikes in cryptocurrency... once that calms down it should be easier to use them.

Let me know how things work out for you :thumb:

bank transfer or credit card are the kiss of death for a non reversible item like btc with a very reversible option like credit card or bank transfer.

buying bitcoin is very simple with cash, go to the bank deposit get coins at a 5% or so mark up.

I use LBC, never had an issue both buying/selling. It helps to have some form of reputation or the ability to verify your ID.

Funny how in one post you're warning me about how dangerous a bank transfer would be, then in the next post you recommend randomly depositing money into some strangers account.

I know it's a normal way of buying BTC.

I don't have any experience with coinbase, but LBC has never been problematic.

5% is standard mark up if you're doing cash in person or cash deposit. you may have to pay a higher fee if you have a new account. As you establish relationships with your traders you'll get better rates over time :)

depositing into someones account with escrow is real safe
BUT selling coins with bank transfer is like giving your money away/

I use serious security measures to sell coins
I verify IP, location and phone number and that is for cash deposit because of man in the middle scams
