It's a long video but if you want a thorough run down on some alt coins this is a good video to get you up to speed. It was shot today 12.11.17 so its up to date. He puts out a news video everyday that I watch, he has some really good content.

Don't judge it by its cover. Trust me... I think you will be pleasantly surprised by this guy.

Just thought I'd update the thread and thank everyone for their contribution.

So as mentioned already, I have Bitcoin which currently makes up 100% of my portfolio.

I will definitely be adding around Ethereum to my portfolio this month when it hopefully dips.

As for other coins, I'm still looking into things like IOTA and Monero.

As for Litecoin, whilst it is doing well, I'm not convinced about it being any better than Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash for that matter (long term). I may avoid it.

IOTA is on a nice dip now thanks to FUD over their partnerships actually being contributors rather than having any official agreements with Fortune 500 companies, especially Microsoft.

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

If you look at this chart(should default to 30-minute candles), you want to sell alts at the first big green candle that you see, and then you buy back in at the first big red candle that you see. It's always the same pattern. This is what the the whales and pros do. You can probably set an alert in the handful of programs available for free online and send it to your phone. You can set it to 1-2% gain in 30 minutes to alert you and then around 1% loss in 30 minutes since the small losses usually signify that the price has peaked.

Inverse trend in alts(timing differs slightly depending on volume(higher gains they've achieved usually means a harder fall):

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-bcc

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-xrp

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-ltc

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-eth

Hopefully you guys can make around 10-20% profits instead of losing or panic selling next time around.

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

Just reviewing the poll and I just realised not a single person voted for Bitcoin Cash.

Politics aside (BTC vs BCH) - I am surprise. More so because it was top 3 (now 4th) of cryptocurrencies.

Is everyone of the consensus that there is zero hope for Bitcoin Cash? I mean none at all? Surely the fact that it's faster transactions (for now) gives it some credit? No?

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

Bitcoin Cash is big in Korea and among some major players, but regular crypto players know it's not as efficient and secure as the other coins.

I wish coinbase would add crypto. I don't really want to add my ID to GDAX. Much less anywhere online.... I would be in on Monero.

Then again those Coinbase fees ;(

Coinbase is going to add altcoins, which experts say will make life easier for Aussie investors

Awesome! Now my mind is wandering... Might be time to invest in those alt-coins that Coinbase is adding before it hits mainstream and more people have access to buy them, driving those coins up pretty quickly. :spy:

Huh? Coinbase is going to allow better trading for Australians?

That is very one sided. Australians can only buy, they can not sell.

Not that impressive for seamless trading.

I really like what Komodo is doing with their BarterDex decentralized exchange and launching the Monaize DIco. I have a feeling this is one of the platforms that is actually getting anything done that they said they would.

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

I thought of a new strategy that seems too simple and common sense.... I'm look for a coin or coins that have been out for at least a year or two that aren't in a perpetual downward trend against Bitcoin. Forget about what the chart shows against USD or other fiat... If there isnt a coin that exists that isnt loosing value to BTC long term than I'm looking for the ones that have sustained the least deflation on a one year chart.

If this concept is completely off and would never work, let me know and explain, I'd appreciate the feedback.

I'm still in the process of trying to figure out how to work the charts on https://www.tradingview.com/ with using moving averages ect...

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

Once I work on all my data for 6-month, 2-month, and 1-month movement for most of the coins, you'll be able to see a lot of patterns. It does look like the top 200 coins under $0.10 and the top 50 coins under $.10 or $1(depending on which value they are closer to) are good picks. The thing is almost all the coins are going up, so you have to figure out how long to go before their breakout is, which is the hard part. It seems like there is a handful of coins that break out once or twice a week.

But just guessing by looking at a few charts, you want to pick most of the coins that are down in relation to BTC the last few months, which goes counter to what you're looking for. You are looking for coins that have been strong throughout the year or just have very little correlation to bitcoin price change, either positive or negative?

I see how that strategy would work... to get more than 100% profit in a few months on a good pick.

I'm thinking less risk and on a one year investment. The coins I came up with surprised me... They're often talked about but none of them I would have went for except Monero....

#1. EOS
#2. Monero
#3. IOTA
#4. LISK

These are the only coins I found that have been able to hold their own against Bitcoin over the last year.

So what do you think about these coins? I know IOTA had issues with the Microsoft announcement but that puts it on sale ATM.

Re: What other crypto-currencies do you recommend?

ETH isn't patented; it's only worth so much because it's legitimate but so far, all the coins that have been based off ethereum smart-contracts have enjoyed the biggest gains. If this changes in the future and large companies actually use ethereum, then the price will grow, but it's only up 20% since it's mid-year high of $400 and that only happened the last couple weeks. 20% is abominable in crypto terms. I feel like those who got in pre-April before the 20x spike are the only people still mining it and have interest in it. ZCash has a similar pattern. If you bought or built a GPU miner for Zcash or ETH and don't have the interest to change coins, you're still gonna back those cryptos.
