Unhappy R.I.P. CryptoCurrency Section

When this section of the forum came to fruition last year, it was super engaging. One of the best additions to this forum, to date. There were really good threads going around, lots of information being shared (good and bad, but most importantly constructive). People, including myself were making gains from the wisdom that was being shared - essentially what a forum is all about.

But today when I read this section, it's an absolute blood bath with so much conflict. Difference of opinion is fine, because ultimately none of us know if Cryptocurrency is here to stay, none of us know if it will increase in value, or spiral into oblivion, we can only make our best guess. But it doesn't warrant for bashing one another.

More importantly, you have members (one in particular) who open a new thread every couple of hours with useless information, most of which is formed from baseless conjecture, and in essence just bewilders newbies.

It feels as though this entire section has changed for the worst, and it's sad to see its demise. Hopefully one day it will be revived to become what it once was. But for now, rest in peace I guess.

Spot on.

When prices are rising everyone likes to blow smoke up each others ar5es about how financially astute they all are.

Seems nobody on this forum has ever taken a serious doing buying into cryptocurrencies.

Thats it, its easy to be an expert in a rising market.

Now things have cooled off, a lot of people will have been burnt. Or just biding there time until it takes off again.

The point I was making was that this section has become saturated with useless threads and posts. If you compare it to those that were around last year, there was specific members sharing some very useful information. Props to users like "nate", and a few others... ... if you're smart you would have used the info to your advantage to make gains, because there were huge price corrections as crypto peaked.

Try finding useful posts now, you'll have to scour through so much trash talk before you find something of credence.

I also hope this "booming" doesn't equate to even more nonsensical posts/threads. This section is in need of an urgent overhaul.

Just do as aspkin mentioned and report it and I'll take a look and move it into his main thread or delete it.

This sh1t aint dead...

It's just the more I read and time I put into this the more I realize how trash most if not all of these projects are...

It's only my opinion, and I'm NOT at all a day/short term trader. Money can be made with the worst projects, as we've seen over the last year... But I think the important thing to remember is that BTC should be end game...

I believe the goal should be to take up as much real-estate on the BTC block chain as possible by either investing fiat or by taking BTC from people naive enough to believe in some of these garbage projects.

Take Bitcoin Cash for example, I was almost convinced for a VERY short minute last year, thinking it'd be a good idea to liquidate some BTC just to even my odds either way it went. Thank god I didn't make that mistake.

Privacy Coins are going to be a BIG deal but the ones we have are trash at this point except for Monero, there will be money to be made with them, that's a fact. But I believe BTC will implement something in the future to make transactions private so I find it highly unlikely any of them will ever fully take off.

This partnership that VERGE (which is a straight sh1t project by the way) made with PornHub is actually a big deal (in my opinion).

We're no where near there yet... I don't think too many people pay for porn ATM.. (last time I did I think it was on VHS)

But those around long enough to know, the internet got popular in the early 90's because of Drug forums and Porn.

Silk Road already pushed BTC into the spotlight...

Now imagine VR (Virtual Reality) 1 on 1 Webcam porn.... Like VR prostitution. In order to make it happen (besides more invitation in VR) there needed to be a way to incentive the workers. Now we have it...

Verge sux... but Verge is only the 1st partnership, but I believe it got us one step closer to help sling shot crypto into the main stream.

Silkroad pushed BTC in the spotlight because it used to be the only crypto currency at the time that was useable for their needs. But if you check today's Silkroads, you'll see that Monero and ETH are the s##t and not BTC due to high fees for transactions of mostly small amounts. Things change, even tho BTC was the pioneer they might get cut out one day because others have a superior technology or just a better usability... AOL and myspace were pioneers once too.

That being said I hope this section will not die. I've read some IMO nonsensical stuff in this section (maybe someone else will think my above statement is nonsensical). But that's what we are here for, to discuss stuff... Some comments might appear nonsensical at the beginning and later turn out to be genius. Who knows? Lets just talk, brainstorm and see what happens.

For-sure... But I was talking about the sex industry pushing Crypto Currency as a whole more into the mainstream. But you have to take a couple things into account. All trading pairs are paired against BTC with a somewhat exception of ETH, BCH, and LTC. BTC is more or less at this point like gold 2.0 and we're on a true gold standard.

BTC isnt used for multiple reasons like high transaction fees and its easy to trace back to the owner of the address unless you know how to use BTC mixers like we use the internet for stealth.

The problem with privacy coins will be regulation due to "money laundering". The Gov wont be able to stop privacy coins, but they can control the on and off ramps to USD and put pressure on exchanges that want to do business with customers in the US.

They just passed the Cloud Act a month or two ago so it will be even easier to force exchanges to give up info.

I find it highly unlikely that BTC will get cut out like MySpace any time in the foreseeable future... All other coins and projects have a living creator or basically a CEO that dictates the direction of the project for their agenda. BTC is its own beast. The only people that have control over BTC is the majority of the community, the 51%. Vitalik can do anything he wants to ETH. Rhett can do anything he wants to BTCP or Zclassic. Fluffy Pony can do what he wants to Monero. Ect... Until the coins are forked to death, new or classic projects and leaders or CEO's are created and the community is divided.

BTC innovation is coming in 2nd and 3rd layer applications. Its not changing BTC's foundation. It's just adding on to it same as they did with the internet.
