How anonymous is the monero cryptocurrency?

Hi

I was wondering how anonymous is Monero? I know with bitcoin everything is logged on a ledger and made public but is it just that monero doesn't make the ledger public? What else makes it even more anonymous such as that certain countries can't even know what kinds of transactions their citizens are making.

The fact that Monero is supposed to be the super privacy coin but it's not accepted on the biggest current DNM has always been alarming to me. Why not integrate it? Are our transactions being monitored?

Favored among miners simply based on ROI so I cant understand why many multi-coin wallets dont integrate it either.

I hope it becomes more used than bitcoin soon. DNM has me alarmed, you don't know who is monitoring what now.

Monero's privacy is really good, very very hard to be traced.
