Has to do with the mining reward being cut in half - from 12.5 per block to 6.25 per block.
This means the supply of new bitcoins into the market is cut in half.
Less supply = higher price.

its hard for me to believe 100k within a year......honestly I think their are a lot of variables

we need extremely widespread adoption all over the world for bitcoin to hit 100k.........

I am taking a more conservative approach

good luck with that.....their is so much wash trades on exchanges.........and illegal stuff going on still......

sec wants to see strong regulations on exchanges to prevent illegal activity.....

conservatively 10-20 years from now I believe bitcoin will be at 100k......

I always said this in the past - wait till 2025 and then tell me I was wrong. I have a feeling we wont have to wait that long.

also if you look at past performance,

bitcoin was created in 2008 and here we are in 2019........11 years later.......and it sits at 12.7k..........11 years later....and right now a lot of it is driven behind bullsh1t wash trades and illegal activity on exchanges.......

so that gives you a pretty good idea here......

if you were to remove all the illegal stuff on each exchange for all the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ trade volumes.....

bitcoin would probably only be worth somewhere between 4k to 7k........and thats how far its gotten in 11 years......

I can think of all the creative things to do with my money like buying food and standing in front of a bunch of unfortunate kids eating my food in enjoyment while they are starving and watching me eat.

Maybe go to Africa and start my own army

Noticed that too yesterday. I figured Coinbase going down for a few minutes had something to do with the price drop. Or maybe that was just the "correction" that's been coming every day this week at the close of business on the East cost. :noidea: :confused:

this is a correction......when all the cryptos fall its a correction...........and being up all night the price was dropping like crazy during night time when usa was asleep.....

So what does it actually mean then?

People said the same thing about btc since it was introduced 10 years ago, and I have yet to seen a single coffee shop that accepts btc today, and I live in a big city. So much for mass adaptation...

FYI, Bitcoin at this point is just a massive pump and dump machine and the general public has long lost interest in btc since the second boom (to $20k). The only reason why Bitcoin still has major price flux is because USDT is constantly propping up bitcoin with huge artificial trade volumes, and huge amounts of tokens constantly being added to circulation without reliably proving their USD backings.

These aren't opinions, these are facts. If you don't believe me, a quick google search will yield you the same results stating the same claims for the past years.

Not really sure either. Since the 24th Coinbase was having supposed cloudfare issues. This was when BTC was 10600 and steadily climbing. 3 days later of issues, price climbs to 14k and Coinbase and BTC crash to 11600. Now Coinbase isnt having issues. A bit coincidental. And I had no idea what the true price was at the time since you could not get a good connection.

My theory. It was setup to force all us peons to HODL when the price dropped so it wouldnt bottom out. Everyone would sell at 13800 otherwise and price drops again. Were they having traffic issues :noidea: Did traffic just all the sudden slow when price went to 10600 - I doubt it! With everyone HODLing price maintains a higher bottom line.

I remember Coinbase having issues of one kind of another on their status page every time the price started dipping, back when it was climbing to $20k. I don't blame them for wanting to defend a higher price. :noidea:

Gotchya. All I know is it was a missed opportunity and no one could do anything but watch. They're saying outage right at the crash. All in 15min.
