It's the China->China version of Ali. It's where Chinese trading companies shop around for suppliers. Everything is in Chinese and it can't be easily translated since it's almost all images of text. 1688.com
:noidea: | Good thing I am Chinese and can read it :D
I was there in China last year at a big trade show. It was good to see but it really made me nervous as how to approach it as there were too many products and a lot of similar ones. I didn't buy anything but I would love to explore it some more. |

Is finding a good manufacturer ,who would make your product exactly as you want it to be made, possible without traveling to China?
Anyone here with such experiences? | China is a good country for traveling |
| newstart123 | 11-11-2019 03:20 AM | Re: Is traveling to China a must? yes ofcourse it is possible. I have been in china to meet suppliers - so online it is even easier. 1. i am not chinese speaker, so it is easier to communicate by programs. They are not good in english too. 2. you always can ask samples from manufacturers before you work with them.
To find good supplier will take6-12 months, but it is possible to do online. 100 percent. Traveling to china is not must, only to find supplier |
| amazing4 | 01-15-2020 04:23 AM | Re: Is traveling to China a must? I also do not think you should go there before you make orders of 50k and above. If you make such big orders, you can go and meet the manufacturers in person and get better prices. Relatives always give better prices to relatives.
1688 is great for comparing prices and negotiation on alibaba. |
| afincho | 02-02-2020 02:50 AM | Re: Is traveling to China a must? Considering that current scenario I would say... no, not at all. |
| bombaclad | 03-05-2020 09:00 AM | Re: Is traveling to China a must? I would personally find a buying agent, you can call a hktdc office and they can help you find one. i went to the los angeles office and got one before. They are the ones that can speak the language and can help with suppliers. |

You need your visa. It takes a few months. Americans travel all over the entire country. We have friends who live there months of the year. We have friends who have gone for vacations(no idea why) They said they loved it but will NEVER go again LOL
It is super loud. Never quiet. People everywhere. Rude people. Gross people. People literally **** and piss in the streets. Restrooms are an open ditch behind a wall in much of the country. Basically too many people.
You cant eat vegetables, you cant have water or ice cubes etc...You must be very careful if not stomach pains and diarrhea are your fate.
My friends who only travel there for business absolutely hate going. They say it is horrible unless you are into nude massages and cheap/free hookers.
My big turnoff now is that we cant eat the street foods or have fish head soup because of the water quality.
No offense to our Chinese members or my Chinese friends. It is just very different from the USA and a culture shock to most of us. |
Not anyone of USA love china, and not anyone of USA don`t like china . Yes, we have not good air here, but we love our homeland. |

Here's a good place to find reliable suppliers - Made-in-China.com
We have used this personally and you can get in touch with the suppliers directly via chat/email.

It's all depended. If you want to place a large order, it is better for you go to the factory to have a look. However, another more reliable way is to hire a quality inspection company to do pre-production and during production quality inspection as well as pre-shipment inspection. Of course, you would only accept the goods if the quality inspection company issue a clean certificate.
Though you have to pay fee to the quality inspection company but you have saved your time and travelling cost. Moreover, you have a third party as a handle for any quality issues.
Concerning the quality inspection company, the big ones such as SGS, Intertek, they have offices and labs inside China. They also have offices in HK too. If you want cheaper alternatives, there are smaller ones such as HKQCC, STC and API. Just google using "quality inspection companies in hk" , you will get tons of result! Dont be fooled by their fancy logos and description. |
