i got mine iphone 3gs from Australia $400 1 year ago without any contract. ( Telstra Provider ).

You can get many cheap iphone from whole country. But you need to jailbreak and unlock it first.

- With contract from your original country usually FU ( Factory Unlock ). You dont need to jailbreak and unlock it to use.
- Without contract from the other country usually SU ( Software Unlock ). You need to jailbreak it and unlock first then you can use it.
