Wholesale Advice

So i've been looking at a partiular niche and found a sourcer i can basically dropship the item too my customers from AND have a tracking number..but i wondered what advice would you give to someone starting off wholesale? on ebay? would you say try one listing and see how it goes or what? i'll be selling my item for about £45 but on my current ebay stealth ive never sold a item..so is it perhaps risky for me to sell this kind of price item straight away?

Hmm, drop shipping is not recommended, it is better to have the product to hand before you list it for sale.

There are various insights on this if you look carefully in this section.

Droppshippg is the WORST thing you can do,,,Search,,,there is PLENTY Posted on the Subject,,,

As for the Risk,,,It's WHAT you are selling that might be considered Risky by Ebay, as opposed to How much it costs,,,

a $10.00 IPhone Case might be considered Riskier than a $10,000 Toyota in Ebays eyes

Like everyone has said before, Don't dropship. If you really found a good product, buy a few from your source and sell them to see if you can make a profit and hope it's not taken down by ebay.

Good Luck.

Very risky on a new account as others are selling the exact same thing.

Then you have to rely on them way too much.

If they screw up you lose an account real quick.

All the best on this - business model in effect.

I seriously will NEVER recommend dropship, why? Your item may never be shipped on time and then the seller screw you up with a negative feedback for item failing to arrive on time. The best adice is to have your item on hand and make sure item ships same day is possible.

its a risky business plan but can work if done correctly

few points been made above

d'shipping from asia is a big no no

While the consensus is that drop shipping is a bad thing that has to be qualified somewhat.

Is the item in the country you are selling in?

Is your agreement with the supplier watertight and - more importantly - do you trust him.

Might be better for a PM on this if you wish

Depends what it is you are drop shipping.

If its some thing small like phone cases then no.
If its a fast seller then probably not.
If its a high ticket item, non-vero, heavy (furniture) then why not. Go for it.
Just make sure you state clearly the delivery time.

I used to dropship in the past and never again. Everything went alright for the first few months then had complaints about items arriving late and damaged item.

I would rather have the items in my possession.

If the item gets lost in the post, how you would go about it.
If your supplier runs out of stock and you were not updated and sold quite a few again that's another issue.

There are more negatives than positives

And on a new account very Risky:nono:

very true..i need some help on an aliexpress person..can any of you advice?

hercheys 08-08-2012 01:46 AM

Drop shipping is a hassle/problem/risk!!

I tell all my affiliates, my references and ever business partners; don't ever drop shipped, you will loose clientele, the lack of customer service on their behalf and the risk you're taking. Doing your own Upfront Inventory=On hand product=Real money, there many risks involved when using a drop-shipper. Carry your own fulfillment, avoid extra problems, is your destination to middle forwarder and thus, avoiding your personal involvement with each client.

Cheers!
