I have been through this
If it is non-china brands, in particular USA, they do not give you the time of day unless you are bigger and you have a company and website, then they ask you alot of questions about your turnover etc.
China suppliers are way easier to deal with, but they are not the brands you are probably looking for...
other issues include the fact that they may already have their country agents already set up and agreements signed and do not need/want more....
any brand that is 'known' and I do not mean designer stuff, just more popular or sells well, the supplier can take their pick on distributors.
You need to get an easily available brand and popularize it yourself and market it.
an example I wanted a brand called no no (but no no reply) - so instead I went for emjoi, sells for less but no probs acquiring it, probably more profit % per item though so no no can get stuffed, as it is all the same to me...
