Who do you recommend for insuring packages?

Hello all...Currently I am using stamps.com to insure my packages but I know they are high priced. I used to use auctiva but last year they changed their insurance provider and I didn't like their service. If anyone has any recommendations i'd appreciate it. thx

I used U-Pic.com ... it worked pretty well. I thought it was cheap at the time ~ about $20 a month (it depends on how many packages you ship). They were good about FedEx packages (I never used mail), but not so great with freight shipments. Good luck.

thank you for that. already sent them an email, so it's a monthly fee as opposed to per package?

Are you getting the customer to pay for insurance?

No I pay for it, it makes me sleep easy at night. Btw, the company shipsurance is the company I had problems with. Surprisingly I think they are directly connected with ebay.

Shipsurance eats donkey turds. Go with upic.

SlimJim, it depends on how you set it up. It's been a long time and I never paid that much attention. As I recall, it was not per package, but pricing does depend somewhat on how many packages you ship a month. It seems like I had to produce some record of what I was shipping for a month, then they gave me a quote. Occasionally, they'd ask for an update. I think it is different if you're shipping just USPS. I think there's one kind of insurance that requires a shipping record to be turned in every month. I had FedEx and freight only, and eventually they just left me alone. I sent them $$ every month and that was that.**

*YMMV, things could certainly have changed in the last two years.
**Also, in 10 years of shipping FedEx, I only had them pay over $100 on a package 2 or 3x, while they always paid on $100 and under. UShip requires that you file your FedEx (or other, tho not USPS) claim first, then you submit the paid FedEx (or other) paperwork to them and they pay the balance w/o question.
