ASD Vegas

Anyone going in Aug?
Never been to this one, Has anyone been? 3000 +/- manufacturers/vendors cant be a bad thing to experience? I doubt you can see it all in 3 days?

MM78 05-11-2013 07:26 PM

Been to the ASD in Vegas several Years...Nothing special, at least not for me to resell on ebay. I've had better luck finding my own products without going to a convention. But if you are curious then go. Remember one thing, by the time this show arrives at Las Vegas...Those exhibitors have already shown their products to a ton of people already.

hardybents 05-11-2013 08:43 PM

Agreed. I did receive something that said they have a new section just for manufacturers? They said its the first year for that?

MM78 05-11-2013 08:48 PM

There's been some Manufacturers (small ones) before but not a section just for them.

These things are for ppl with retail stores.. online fees kills the potential of selling most of these items

:spy:Watch out for anyone driving a Prius auto if you go to Vegas :spy:

Ebayorbust 05-12-2013 04:04 AM

The Prius always reminds me of the film "The Other Guys".

"Gator's bitches better be using jimmies!"

ASD is actually a small show of vendors who are mostly marketing items for the travel or tourist trade.

Others already are in showrooms across the country so dont waste your time and money.

There are trade shows like these all over the country and in various locations and also tons of much larger permanent trade shows in many large cities across America.

yotano211 05-13-2013 01:47 AM

I have worked these types of shows as armed security many years ago in the jewelery area. Most of the stuff there is junk. But I am thinking of checking one out this year.

small? 3000 vendors small? I would like to see what your idea of large is? A person couldnt do it all in 3 days.

I liked it, as mentioned above to get direct access to many manufacturers? Instead of traveling to China? Ive been to the one in NYC and found lots of stuff to flip, thats huge @ 2800 vendors, Vegas is larger yet? They have some cash and carry stuff that sold real well on etsy.

I assume that is is just an over hyped sales ploy, being the first year and all ..but you never know?

I have gone every year for the last 10 years.
Different categories to pick from. General Merchandise, Dollar items, Clothing, Purses, Closeouts, etc.

I use the show to pick up ideas of new items to possibly sell. There are multiple vendors selling the same items so you can try to wheel and deal for better pricing.

You are not going to find any brand name merchandise.

Good Luck

My wife and I are going to check it out, more of a way for us to rationalize a way to get away from the kids. Hopefully find some new items?
It shouldn't be that hard to find you, if we dont see you at the show look for us at the craps tables, we will be the loud, obese, waffle cone eating, socks with sandals, fanny pack wearing non-tourist type.

"You are not going to find any brand name merchandise."

I've actually been considering going this year...

I have never been but at the very least I could learn a lot about the industry. I'll be honest though, I mainly want a reason to go to Vegas

I may also check out the one in NYC in Sept I believe

Can anyone suggest other popular trade shows?

hardybents 05-14-2013 01:49 PM

there are a ton of shows...just depends what you want? NYC is great, huge. Vegas is larger. Most of the same vendors, if you go to vegas, likely you will not see much new in NY. Oaks is pretty good? IT depends where you are located, or how willing you are to travel. If I could stand the plane ride I would go to the Canton Fair....Thats where its at. You can find any fugazzi you want there? If thats you thing??

yotano211 05-14-2013 05:39 PM

Flights to Las Vegas are alot cheaper than NYC. There is always deals, and you if stay off the Strip, hotel rooms can be found for about 30-39 per night vs 100-150 for the Strip.

Best deals are located around Boulder Hwy, located 7-10 miles away from the strip.
