Market traders -uk
 

Have just been taking a wonder round my local high street market and noticed so many shelf pulled wholesale ex high-street items that none of the online wholesale websites have for offer.

I think that market networks are very different and rather old school, in fact one stall i was snooping around weary of me .

I had dare not ask who their supplier was, then again, i should have done, as if you do not, you never gonna know.

However highly doubt they are going to give away their sources.

Any one have any insight?

I don't really understand what you are asking

What is a 'wholesale ex high-street item'? Can refer to basically any item that any high street shop has ever sold

more next,monsoon,jane norman,principles etc. all with labels in tact. normally buying those items in and reselling in uk the name has to be removed, uk reselling regulations. So to see them on market stalls(not even a big market at that) is strange, they must be getting it for dirt (although their selling prices were quite high) And have not seen any of these item being sold on the uk wholesale websites anywhere. And i got a bloody extensive list.

Sounds like things you can buy down at the pub that have 'fallen off the back of a van' to me.

Sounds like counterfeit or repica to me also. Markets use to have a reputation for the del boys although they are cracking down on this is still obviously exists. I laughed the other day I came across a street vendor selling Oakey (not Oakley) sunglasses lol

Not at all, all items that can be very easily purchased online from the wholesale websites. The market traders had the same name brand goods, I know these items and products, and how they are sold, exactly the same. The only difference was that on any of the wholesale forums, were any of these items listed for wholesale. So these market traders are getting wholesale stock of the same brand items you find on nearly every wholesale website in the uk , just that the items they had stock of, none of the wholesale websites have available.

Not at all, one off items maybe, not whole stocklots, with hangers, tags, everything you would find displayed in the highstreet shop.

So do not think that is the case at all

If so, this will be referring to one of several things.

Some websites pop up, sell things they don't have, take your money and then vanish.

Others sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items pretending they are real.

Have to make sure that you don't fall into either of these traps

All sites are legit, no reason for them not to be, they are only selling overstock, end of line stock from the high street, its not high end brands.

A friend of mine has a market stall, he sometimes gets Big Shop names (He had some clothing from River Island and New Look recently). I'll ask him where he got it from next time I see him. He insisted it was genuine.

Woolworths is a good source of stuff - if he got them at bankruptcy time, well, nice that he can flip

ohh yes this stuff is easy to find. Some big high streets even have dedicated website for their overstock and ex items to sell. Argos being one of them. They often sell "lots" usually mixed or a specific category but often these are more returns and grade "A" than overstock or ex items but they are findable too.

I personally dont go down that line, its treated a seconds and listing on ebay would also have to be treated as so e.g listed as new other or seller refurbished. I also find that it isn't as lucrative as it looks or only if you have the serious cash to invest in the first place and even then its a gamble on what lot you get and if its popular.

Id avoid clothing lines and branded ones on the likes of ebay and Amazon. Vero just is too hot nowadays. Great if you have your own website or other channels tho.

A less cheeky way to ask the seller his supplier is to buy from his stall, then build up a conversation, and sneak in a question about where he buys his stock from. If not at least they will politely say no.
