Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

What do I need to do to cover myself when it comes to making a big payment via PayPal to a supplier I'm not 100% certain on?

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

I would never send a big payment to any supplier on Alibaba if I wasn't 100% sure.

Is it an alibaba supplier or aliexpress? if it is aliexpress use them as you escrow with one of there approved payment methods

Where is your supplier based? i'm guessing china or similar. You can always get them checked out in person, I believe aliexpress have links to people who can complete site visits on your behalf

Also are they a verified member?

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

I always used paypal till I am sure he can be trusted,

then I pay via what he wants but never, make the supplier count on you as a good client

that always comes back for me then all the trades will go smoothely, but get samples first why order in bulk if you do not like the product?
GL with your trades

Keep in mind alibis does not like PayPal

OP asked how to protect himself. Other choices are preferable

Try to use credit card whenever possible - fraud protection policy

Unfortunately we don't have our mind-reader hats on....so why don't you specifically tell us what type of product your looking for.

Issue is no one is going to give you valuable information so you can turn around and compete with their product.

No one in their right mind would give up a good source that is making them money.

You will have to take the time to sort through the sellers and be careful who you buy from.

Well make sure they send a PayPal invoice that says exactly what you are receiving and the warranty policy. Make sure it is not a gift

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

My only advice is to pay with credit card using paypal. Its 100% safest way to pay for anything from china if you do not know the seller. If seller will do COD then even better for you.

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

Some of them accept paypal. But some of them also need you to cover the paypal's fee which is 8% they want.. Real fee around 4% i think.. But it worths and can protect your transaction.

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

My experience is, pay with paypal. Ive done all necessary checks, built up good relationships etc. Really checked suppliers out, and I still got ripped of about 20% of the time when I was importing large amounts. Yes you may receive discount if you pay via worldpay etc but I would rather pay an extra 8% to guarantee I will actually receive the items I paid for.

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

20% of the time getting ripped off is way too high

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

Does the payment go to Alibaba or the suppliers actual paypal account? not been on there yet but interested as i want to pay for my stock through paypal and Ali express & dh gate don't let you use paypal no more.

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

I always use tt and pay directly to supplier if you are looking to get good price thats the way to go but you need to find out more about your supplier.

I tried over 20 suppliers and never got scammed to the level i didnt receive the goods.

im not going to say about faulty ratio and returns here as this is different story.

you will get what you pay for if price is low and paypal accepted its gonna be junke as they charge over 5% to withdraw cash in china

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

I think you already built a good relationship with your suppliers. Also you done a lot of orders and they offer you very good price,so they donot want to use paypal,as paypal really charge too much from china sellers.

But it take time to find a good supplier who you can trusted in

Use a real credit card with fraud protection

AliExpress seems to be in a transitional phase wich has probably been caused by the stock market float of Alibaba meaning they are having to clean up their act, but AliX are still getting rid of suppliers who quite blatantly do not meet western standards of quality and service and the length of time it takes for goods to arrive over here is still taking too long, spending quite large sums of money with them is probably still fraught with risk

Re: Using PayPal for alibaba supplier

So the consensus is that Paypal is ok to pay your supplier? Doing a search, I read that others said not to use Paypal as they will limit the account.
