customs charges

I seem to haphazrdly get customs charges from DHL.

Is there resources to estimate what i should be charged?

ALso, i had a DHL shipment in on January 14th. DHL Bill showed up today. there where 5 different products in that shipment. THe invoices just has a flat 15%. Should each item have a different rate?

also, the same supplier is getting ready to send me a new order, and in that new order they are sending 4 units to replace damaged items in the January 14th shipment. Will customs recharge me?

VAT will be a flat rate, Import Duties will be different for each item. DHL will also charge for dealing with customs on your behalf.

It depend on the value you wrote on the bill

Charge will likely depend more on what your SELLER declares.

I haven't imported in years. But usually customs charges from UPS, FedEx, DHL are a fraction of what they are from USPS/EMS. I am assuming because they have a customs broker negotiating for you. Really not sure.

Years back I use to get the shipment then get billed like a week later. Was kind odd. But, to be honest it part of the cost of doing business.

They may charge you. It depends on the product and it is very subjective. Lots of people import smaller packages to try to avoid the chargers. Some depend on what you are importing. You would honestly have to download the customs handbook and look through it for your item. If there is any Quotas set by US Gov't etc. It is very complex.

Sellers using the first 3 shipping options can declare a bit more flexibly than just with USPS. Even with EMS, charges have been lower due to flexible declaration...of course this flexible declaration can be suspect at times.
