DHgate wholesale question.

I am going to start doing wholesale after 5 years of doing Ebay sales. I see that a lot of people on this website use the site because of the posts on this section of the website. When I looked online I could not find a decent review of Dhgate and was wondering if it is safe enough to use?

Re: DHgate wholesale question.

DHGate is relatively safe. You pay DHGate and when the items arrive and you are satisfied, they pay the seller. If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute with DHGate before the funds are released.

Still, you should check the seller's feedback, just like you would on eBay. It is NOT guaranteed that DHGate will side with you in a dispute. In my experience, DHGate is REASONABLE, but sometimes they WILL side with the seller. It all depends on the circumstances.

DHGate no longer allows counterfeit items to be listed, but there are still counterfeits on the site, so you should be aware of that before making a purchase. I am not sure if DHGate would side with you if your dispute was that the items were seized by US Customs because the items were counterfeit.

Also, some sellers will request that you Western Union the money directly to them. NEVER EVER DO THAT! At least not unless you are certain you can trust the seller. Because there is NO buyer protection if you pay the seller directly.

All in all, for small sellers who want to import from China, DHGate and Aliexpress are probably the two best options.

So how do I know before I buy that they want Western Union or not? I would avoid that if they asked me to. Just wondering if there is a way to see that before you buy a item from them.

DHGAte sellers state their preferred payment options.

Here's a HINT.

Always use a credit card to fund payments.

Be care of what you purchase. Do your homework carefully, very carefully.

Look at Aliexpress too.

Contact the seller directly with your inquiry. As GB stated, credit card funding has added protection

GreenBean is right. Always use a credit card if possible, it gives you an extra layer of protection. Having said that, not every credit card issuer allows you to make purchases outside of the US.

I have used Western Union to send funds to DHGate and never had a problem. To be clear, the funds were wired to DHGATE, NOT TO THE SELLER DIRECTLY. DHGate is reasonably trustworthy, they are a publicly traded company in China and a legitimate business. With individual sellers, you just never know.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that all sellers on DHGate must accept payments through DHGate.

Would be the safest/easiest Chinese wholesaler website to use.

Mostly 75% chinese real wholesalers are localed in china wholesale market.
On the other hand, many on line wholesalers not real wholesalers, they just go to the wholesaler market to source the product and then resell the products in bulk on DHGate or aliexpress

I have many dealings with DHgate. Great place to buy from. I would advise you to never use p pal to pay for your goods. Had an account shut down because of it. Use a CC.

Re: DHgate wholesale question.

I have used DHGate and AliBaBa. Personally, I prefer Alibaba. The prices fluctuate too much on DHGate based on who they use for "free shipping". It is NEVER free shipping. The markups are always there, better to utilize Alibaba and pay the shipping. I've had better experiences on Alibaba.

I always ship DHL, never had problems with importing anything. AliBaba also uses an intermediary escrow so you don't have to worry about paying and not getting the items.

Also, be careful when you import. Certain brands are earmarked for customs and they do random audits. Also, the price point is a concern. If you buy over $2,000 worth any given order, utilize a customs broker. They are worth the weight in gold. Anything under $1,000 and you should be good to go. DHL will invoice you for the customs duty about 20 days after the shipment is delivered.

Hope this helps!

I currently have 6 suppliers on DHGate, 4 on AliExpress, and 3 on DIYTrade. All good sellers and have never had an issue. Really honest also. Like instructed already, check their feedback. And watch what you say to them in the site chat services.

Is the pricing on DHGate negotiable? I can't see how you make a profit. I have checked about 9-10 items in completely different categories and there is no profit after shipping.

Everything is negotiable if you talk to sellers directly

There certainly is profit with the prices on Ali Express but the main problem is of course the inevitable how long it take to get shipped over here to us in the UK !

Many purchases on Dhgate... Don't get branded, although they are trying to "rebrand" some things which still could spell trouble.... My experience is those super eager to work with you have little experience and just replaced a more previously experienced seller. The ones that are not digging at your heals are the ones in demand...

They will change sellers on you and go by same name...plus just like stealth, they too use multiple accounts....

Always pay with credit card.... You need backing... expect some defect items in every order. They will replace them "on next order"... never will they replace at own cost
