Package Seized by Customs
 

Package was seized by customs and this was the first package of a mega order, 12 packages in all. The rest of them will be coming into the states coming to the same address within a week. Have I lost all of them? Also is there any way I can get my money back order was thru DHgate for 6k

I had a package seized and I had 4-5 packages coming to the same address with the same name. I was worried but all of them came through. But they were from different suppliers. In your case I could see them taking them all because that supplier and your address will more in likely be blacklisted. If you have 12 packages seized you could also be investigated for trademark infringement. I would contact Dhgate and see what they will do about it. If they can give you a refund because it was a 6k order and you did not receive it. Do you know the approximate US retail price of the items?

DHGATE. Have to be careful.
More likely all your packages would be seizes by customs now since your address is flagged now

Unfortunately yes, I have been doing this for over 5 years and nothing like this has ever happened.

They may or may not get through. But if they were seized because they were counterfeit, you could have a problem. If ALL of the packages are seized, that is - from your post - $60k or more worth of merchandise. That is the kind of stuff that gets investigated.

Five years ago, this type of thing was not a big deal. But now it is downright dangerous.

Your best hope is that the rest of the items make it through. Again, that may or may not happen. Not every seizure leads to more packages being seized.

I've read that I will receive a letter from US Customs with their explanation, throw it in the trash?

if its 12 parcels and the items are questionable....they may want to visit..

This isnt 1 or 2 box of items...6k worth jumping to 60-70k retail isnt something they want to skip...

Please keep us posted if you get the other packages.

I had a package seized and I got a letter to authorize the shipment to be destroyed. I signed it and that was it.

I also had another package seized and released after 45 days without any explanation.

If you have not received the package, DHgate will side with you. Make sure to provide proof of seizure. That should be the letter from Customs.

I would never sign anything. If you get a letter, you can show it to DHgate to get a refund. But contact the seller first and give them a chance to work it out.

If the others make it through, there shouldn't be an issue. If they ALL get seized, then I would start to worry.

Did you call them and they say it was seized? There are several hubs in the US where packages go through customs. I've had packages from China go through Memphis, Los Angeles, New York, etc. What surprises me is that your package actually LEFT customs in Ohio and went to North Carolina. If it was seized, it shouldn't have left Ohio.

In the case that it WAS seized, your name and address could not be on the blacklist. Which means any time something comes through customs, it will be searched. If counterfeit goods are in the package, you're going to get a letter. If you continue to receive packages like that, men in uniforms will visit you and things could turn ugly. Ask for their card, tell them your lawyer will be in contact with them, goodbye.

Yes they were definately seized I spoke with a DHL representative gave them the tracking number and she told me that the package was seized by US Customs.

4 more packages were seized today at local delivery facility. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen? I Know im in deep at this point but want to know if anyone else has been in the same boat and what the outcome was.

Did you send them on your home address?

All courier services are NONONO if sending something with a foggy origin. Only EMS or regular post.

I think you should get some legal advice. DVDS from China is a BIG no no no.

It's crazy how there are all different departments in different countries enforcing copyright laws and confiscating replicas

But Alibaba which is basically Mass Producing and distributing replicas of every item ever made and Now they are legitimate and are a public Traded Company

How did that ever Happen, every other listing has 1:1 Copy or A1 Quality something along them lines

It's like a Joke, every country is against replicas and they just Legitimized the biggest Replica Manufacturing Company in the World

And what is really funny is that they even have organizations in China going after Replicas , I just don't get it

LOL, I ordered some "overseas pain killers" and they got seized at customs and sent me a letter to my po box authorizing them to be destroyed" I signed it and never heard again from them. Whew.

Nobody can say for sure. You should probably talk to a lawyer to see if there is any way to minimize the damage. Trying to handle this by yourself could end up costing you dearly.

If the packages made it all the way to your local delivery facility and were recalled, then somebody is already looking into it. Whether or not they want to pursue it as a criminal case is anybody's guess, but at the volumes you mentioned, I think the case would QUALIFY under whatever their guidelines are.

If someone orders 5 or 10 jerseys and gets caught it is no big deal. The person who ordered those may not even know they were questionable. But when you are talking about $60k or $70k of DVD's, that is not considered a small matter. If it were one box, I wouldn't worry too much. But so far they have 5 boxes, if I am following this correctly.

Again, if it were ME, I would speak with an attorney who specializes in intellectual property cases, preferably who also has experience with imports.

Edited to add: I would not talk to anyone or sign anything without the advice of an attorney.

I don't know about USA. But in UK for this amount, it would have been serious.

Why would you even think getting DVDS from China would be okay.
If this worked for you on other occasions, it was bout to catch you one way or another.
Never worth it.

And if you said they were Disney that is also a big problem. Disney Is very strict on counterfeits. If I were you i'd seek legal advice asap. See if they can help sort the mess out.

If there is something in the parcel, that can put you in the jail, or can cause a huge fine, just don't sign anything, just say you don't know what's that, and that the sender has probably messed up the address, and that the item is not yours. Better to lose a parcel, than a freedom ;)

By the way, I've received a huge box of DVDs from China, no problems. But my experienced friend told me that I should have used EMS, I did that, and there were no any issues. DHL, Fedex, UPS all have big issues regarding sending foggy items.

They are literally a glorified crim.in.al organization and people praise them for it. They have become too big to stop and China will support them in hopes to take over EB and AZ. On top of that, they are investing in other companies like crazy, all over the world. Soon they will be shaking down people like the f*cking maf.ia. I'm waiting for them to buy their precious little baby brother, iO.ffer.

So for 6k and you can possible earn 60-70k retail? sounds like some brand goods to me. if it is, i doubt you will get it back. they going to reach out to the copyright/trademark owner. watch out for any court letters to that address its being shipped to.

You ever visited Turkey, Egypt or MANY other countries with less economic wealth than the super powers? It's hard to find something that is not f@ke!

Unfortunately, it's another thing that is part of this world like countries that will never get out of poverty even though hundreds of billions if pumped into them. Same principal. Governments probably back some of these large setups to make counterfeits, wouldn't surprise me one bit but you make it out to be the worst thing that has ever happened.

there is a big difference between f ake car, airplane parts or medicines compared to a kids movie pencil case.......you could argue if you allow one then it encourages another....

saw a thread on some guy getting trading standards issues due to frozen merchandize at a shop, heck have you looked on ebay at the frozen stuff, everyone buys it, I do, they do not even try to say it is official, as nobody cares!!, they like it , it is cheap, do they even stop and think if it is official?

but will your daughters dress-up costume catch fire? like a famous uk celebs did recently? so we are back to safety.......

I didn't realize anything I said sounded like complaining but apparently to you it did. I reached out to others for advice not to get bashed by you. My intelligence level is not your concern nor do you know anything about I made a mistake yes and I will learn from that mistake but I'm a grown man with a family and don't need to be talked down to by someone who thinks they are better than someone else.
