Suspicious transaction?? Need Advice...
 

Okay so I got a sale for $220. I checked my merchant account and checked at the info but it seems very suspicious.

1st.
The ip address is a private blocked address that starts with 10. I have the whole Ip but when I traced it , it came back as a private block Ip

2.
The shipping and billing info is different. The billing info is a Georgia Address. The shipping address is in Tennessee.

3. The ship to name is different then the billing name but they both have the same last name

4. and last, the phone number provided belongs to the ship to person and not the credit card holder.

Now some good points is that the AVS(address matched) and the 3 digit security code thats on the back of the card matched.


What should I do to minimize fraud and protect myself. I don't want to pass up the order.

Should I get a signature?? I dont think this will help because the person signing for the order will be different then the credit card hold.

Call the number to verify order??

hummm. Thats what i thought, i might contact my merchant provider. Seems a little suspect to me.

Will a phone verification work?? The person did have the 3 digit security code and it has been 2 weeks since the order was placed. My auction states 14 days for shipping. If someone card where stolen i would think they would had reported it by now..

I think I'm going to call the person tommorow and tell them I can only ship to the Georgia billing address and he is going to have someone ship it to where he is at.

you shouldnt send anything...contact the billing info through yellow pages if a phone number isnt provided...you wont loose anything if you confirm your self

It sounds a little fishy to me. I would call the buyer and ask him why everything is the way it is. Maybe he'll tell you.

Okay I called they buyer. He said the ship to name is his name but just his initials. (JC). The billing name was Joshua. When I called him his voice mail also said JC.

He also stated that he moved and that his information on Ebay has been updated.(I will check it out)

The only thing I'm worried about is his blocked Ip.. Here is the Ip address.
10.102.38.xxx


His phone number area code is the ship to area code.

Overall he sounded good.

I have shipped to other address other then the credit billing address and haven't had a problem.
