Can API IP address cause linkage

We use our own software for eBay and Amazon API order management. We have several stealth accounts that we use separate IPs for. However, it would be a pain to manually switch to the correct IP address before every getOrders() call.

Our question, is we know if we actually log on to eBay with the same IP address that will definitely cause a link. however, do API calls also cause a link to happen? We think that 3rd party software most likely uses their local IP address for all of their customers, so can we get away with API calls as well on the same IP.

Re Amazon: It's unwise, however the amazon forum rep did answer the question on the seller forum once:

If you are directly logging into multiple Seller Central accounts (web interface) with their Administrator login credentials from the same IP, that would be different.

Regarding eBay: I haven't heard similar info from anywhere, but I keep everything on different IPs regardless. Obviously places like inkfrog handle this somehow, but I wouldn't want to try my luck.
