Ebay - IP Banning - IPV4 or IPV6
 

Hi, I've seen a few thread pertaining to this, but I have seen two different answered. Is eBay banning on IPV4 or IPV6?

Just for the record, EBay doesn't ban individual IP's...what it will do is "blacklist" Blocks of IP's those known to belong to VPN's, Proxies, and so forth. Now, wether they blacklist IPV4 or IPV6 cannot be known by anyone here since no one here works for EBay or PayPal.

Thanks for the reply, so if I create an account from my home will ebay flag it based on my IP address? Not sure what you mean by blocks of addresses? I once created a new Amazon account successfully at work because I knew that my IP address most likely changed each day.

Also will I have make sure not to login to ebay apps on cellphones with my previous account?

They will or may flag it if the same IP was used before, if you change the IP...It should be fine.

I would not recommend doing it from work but if it's ok then so be it.

If you use the same smartphone that had the Ebay/PayPal Apps with an account....you can't use the app on the same device.

- this is the problem I am having. Comcast's router will not let me change the IPV4 address, but I can change the IPV6 address by turning the router off and on. Thus, the IPV4 address is the same, but the IPV6 address is different. That's why I want to know what ebay will track.

Just make sure the converted IPv6 IP isn't actually the same IPv4 as you were previously using.

Thanks, but not exactly sure what that means, thanks for the site, the IPV4 and IPV6 are obviously different. As mentioned earlier, the IPV4 never changes, but the iPV6 is easy to change and I changed it today after logging off my suspended ebay account for the last time at home.

Fortunately I won my appeal and ebay is letting me sell again. I did create a second account in case something happens.
