How do some people get away with selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗?
 

Just curious how some people get away with selling so many Phake Items. For example eBay seller: Virtualrack is clearly selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Nike NFL Elite Items. I have been watching this guy for a few years now. It seems like since eBay/PayPal split that eBay is less interested in taking down sellers who sell Phakes unless the Brand owner steps in. This is crazy to me and its not just eBay with these numbers I dunno how DHS hasn't stepped in.

Used to really get to me over here, people not paying tax and selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ but I've decided hmrc/trading standards know they're going to have some mad level of artificial intelligence within the next 10-50 years so all those people will just get rinsed for $$$$$$$$s when they die if not before

@OP, you answered the question yourself, you have been watching him for years. Accounts that have been operating for a long time that bring in a sizable income to EB will be able to get away with a lot. Basically they have passed the tests and EB is not scrutinizing them anymore, so they have a lot more liberties.

Amen. Ebay is focused on profit more than anything... once a seller produces enough profit they weigh that against risk, number of complaints, etc... and then go by that. Most smaller or newer sellers they use to beat their chests and make examples out of them, how they "care" but there are some major sellers with Phake Apple accessories selling THOUSANDS per week that go untouched. Amazing.

I tried selling firesticks with kodi a few months ago. I sold about 50 then got banned from PayPal, but not from eBay. There were literally listings up with 7 figures in revenue from single listings and they are untouched and accepting PayPal with millions in annual sales. It's just mind boggling. I have no clue how PayPal can be missing these people. They just massively favor the first movers who end up doing well and then ban anyone who tries to get in too late because they're just stealing revenue from the other sellers and make no more money for eBay/paypal. It probably doesn't actually work that way but it's annoying.

New York is 100% correct. It's all about profit vs. risk exposure. Try to consider things from their side.

I made them $16304 in the past 4 months without a single chargeback or case closed without seller resolution. Why would they ban me?

Two years ago they most likely would have.

I am dealing with Disruptive business practices right now. If this was two years ago I would have been banned.

Just make sure returns get refunded and dont get chargebacks and all is well in the world of ebay today.

My category has been flooded with Phakes and now my sales are down 50% from last year and I have twice as much inventory. I know I'm down because its impossible to compete with prices so low.

I was expecting a great 4th qtr and now its looking like a bust.... Ill just unload and take the tax deduction as a loss is what its looking like.

Price, feedback and the players jerseys he is listing. Rookie Jerseys, styles that don't exist things you could not offer at these prices if they were real. Alll items that would retail for $250. Also the fact the does not use the brand name. Its a classic sign of phake.


The sports apparel category has been littered with them for years. I could point out 30-40 sellers with Phake Nike Jerseys. Just surprised that this guy has been able to sell so many for so long with so many negatives.

Yea, that last couple years several of the categories I have been selling in have been flooded with phakes. Sorry to hear about it. My sales have been hit big time as well.

Why should it bother you that his stuff is not NFL approved? If his product wasn't good he would not be selling thousands of them.

Just FYI. NFL Properties is not going after ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items with NFL logos. They leave it up to the legit sellers of their products to police. I post an item I thought was legit and got a message from supplier saying NFL properties does not police and he actually has little recourse.

Wouldn't be surprised the route Amazon is going if you have to get ungated to sell in those categories. Having to send in docs for one of the Brands I purchase liquidation products from because they started gating their items. It was kinda crazy had to get a letter from the president of the Division.
